Painstakingly designed in visually pleasing proportions,
the KB Se.res bollards gracefully emphasize an entrance or

Beacon Effect
The sparkle of light above
the horizontal typifies the
bollard as a beacon. an ef-
fective way to light entry ways

Horizontal lllumination

O $":Rr,^e traditional round bollards immediately ensures
the walkway will be a gracious space, well illuminated, at a
scale comfortable to pedestrians. Standard bollard height is
42", but three other height options mean great flexibility to
achieve proper scale with sitework. Standard finish on the
KBR6 and KBRS is dark bronze TGIC polyester powder; nine
other colors and dark bronze Architectural Class 1 anodize are
also available.

KBS
A choice of 6" or 8" square bollards is offered by Lithonia
Architectural Outdoor so that the site lighting is appropriate
for whatever size the site. Other looks can be accomplished
by the addition of a smoke or bronze acrylic lens, optional
painted colors, or using the cylindrical reflector in one of four
finishes. The KBS is available in high pressure sodium, metal
halide, mercury or incandescent sources.
Optical Design
Lithonia Architectural Outdoor developed a unique two-piece
opticalsystem to bring high performance photometrics to bol-
lard lighting. The fluted design of our hydroformed reflector
precisely directs light throw and minimizes arc-tube voltage
rise. This upper reflector is the heart of the optical system,
producing over 90% of the horizontal illumination. However, it
Standard Flared Cone Optical System
The flared cone is the standard optical system for all Lithonia
Architectural Outdoor bollards. It caPtures a reflection off the
inside of the lens and bounces it back into the viewing angle.
This "spartde' of light is useful when delineating long walk
ways, marking pedestrian entrances, or creating a perimeter
effect. The flared cone produces a consistently uniform circle
of light around the bollard.
- CYA Specular Alzak- - CYBL Black Alzak-
is the other half of the system that affects one aspect of bollard
lighting performance. Depending on the shaPe of the lower
reflector. a "beacon" can either be created or negated. Now
the specifier can make the choice as to which distinctive night-
time effect will enhance a Particular Project.
Optional Cylindrical Reflector System
Now glare-free nighttime performance is possible in a bollard.
The cylindrical reflector option, available on all four shapes
and sizes of Lithonia Architectural Outdoor bollards, is an in-
novation for after dusk that gives a sleek daytime aPPearance
as well. The cylindrical reflector captures the same internal
reflection as the flared cone, but directs the light belowviewing
angles. This type of maximum cutoff is necessary where cars
are driven. where bollards are used near residential or hospital
windows, or where bollards are used on an incline and the eye
tevel of people climbing a staircase is below normal.

 Design Features

Easy Installation and maintenance

Tiay-mounted with quick disconnect for convenience, the elec
trical components are accessible through the bottom of the
bollard. High power factor ballast is standard.
A rugged, cast aluminum base is mounted first to the four
anchor bolts. A/i leveling and alignment (critical to square bol-
lards) is performed on this base. After power supply connec
tions are made, the preassembled bollard is simply placed
upon the base casting. Four 3/B'SST set screws secure the
luminaire in an upright position. All Lithonia Architectural Out-
door bollards take the same anchor bolts and drilling pattern.

Lamp Accessibility
No other bollard offers quicker, more secure access to the
lamp. Simply loosen the single, captive, tamper Proof screw
in the center of the bollard cap and the cap lifts free, exposing
the lamp for seryice maintenance.
