REVISION . A
BINDER HELICAL COMPRESSION SPRINGS FOR USE IN CONSTANT PAGE: 8 OF 10
Group AND VARIABLE EFFORT SPRING SUPPORTS

2.3.6 Spring Rate Calculation And Tolerance

Spring rate is to be tested on a nominated quantity Of coils per batch per size (see section 2.3.8).
Test tO be conducted between Specied minimum and maximum working loads and calculated as
follows:

k = Load ((2) Max workinq load Ht. Load @ Min workinq load Ht.
Max working load Ht. Min working load Ht.

k in units of N/mm
Load in units Of Newtons (N)
Height in units of millimetres (mm)

he measured spring rate is to be reported on a tag xed to each tested unit

Permissible tolerance on specied spring rate :t10%

2.3.7 Dimensional Tolerances

Following design by the Vendor and acceptance by the Binder Group of the Vendor nominated Free
Height, Solid height, Outside Diameter (OD). Inside Diameter (ID), Wire diameter etc. the following
geometric tolerances shall be maintained:

Free Height -1.5mm/+3mm or -0.5% free length / +1.25% free length (whichever is
greater)
NOTE : Free height shall be measured following compression of the coil to its
solid height

Solid Height not to exceed maximum permissible solid height

Outside Diameter 4.0mm/+4.0mm

Squareness Coils shall not deviate from perpendicular by more than 15

2.3.8 Sampling Frequency for Rate Tests and Dimensional Inspection

Sampling frequency for load versus height tests and geometric inspection shall be as follows:

BATCH SIZE SAMPLE SIZE
