ACTIVITY REPORT

The DOLE-NCR and Family Welfare Committee of the Philippines (FWCOMPHIL), Inc.
conducted a Company Summit at Occupational Safety & Health Center (OSHC) North
Avenue corner Agham Road, Diliman, Quezon City last November 28, 2013. The activity
aims to influence other companies to set-up Family Welfare Committee at the workplace
through advocacy orientation of Family Welfare Program and its objective is to inculcate the
value of setting up a Family Welfare Committee among participants by sharing its good
practices and benefits.

HIGHLIGHTS:

The activity were participated in by new and old member of companies coming from the
National Capital Region.

The program proper started at 9:00 in the morning after the registration of the different
participants. Mr. Jonathan Pascual a delegate from Mary Johnston Hospital led the invocation
followed by the singing of the national anthem. Our emcees Mr. Jose Vernon Jacela from
GMA network and Ms. Katrina Laurente from DOLE NCR Quezon City Field Office stated
all the activities that will be happening for the company summit and acknowledged the
participants from the different companies and DOLE officials who are present for the
summit.

Ms. Thelma Raymundo of FWCOMPHIL delivered her welcome remarks and followed by
Assistant Regional Director Nelson C. Hornilla, OIC-Assistant Regional Director, delivered
the inspirational message on behalf of Director Alex V. Avila. He introduced the six (6) Field
Directors who are assigned in the six (6) Field Offices. In his message, he gave emphasis on
the companies with 200 or more workforce to have a Family Welfare Committee as it is a
requirement for them. He challenged the FWCOMPHIL and Field Office Directors to
increase the number of companies with Family Welfare Committee in the National Capital
Region presented their Family Welfare Committee at the workplace and also thanked the
FWCOMPHIL officers and members for conducting the said activity and he guaranteed his
full support to the committee.

The first speaker was Ms. Ma. Evelyn P. Manangan, from the Bureau of Workers with Special
Concerns (BWSC), she discussed the latest trends and updates in the implementation of
Family Welfare Program. One of the issues is about battered women under Republic Act
9344 also called as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006. She mentioned that these
women who are being mistreated by their husband have the right to take a leave of 10 days.
She also added that there are circumstances that a woman can avail additional days of leave
when they need to comply with the requirements for the filing of the case.

Dr. Mary Grace T. Sumbillio the Corporate HR Manager of Fompac Plastic Corp. was
introduced as the second speaker for the morning. She began discussing by enumerating
what most people want to have in their lives and some of these includes good health,
enjoyable career, more money and many more. She mentioned what are the possible benefits
that an employee and the business itself can get if Family Welfare Program is being
established in their company. She shared some important thoughts and lessons that are needed
and can be applied in the business world today. She showed the different activities that
Family Welfare Program is offering for the benefit of the workers such as wellness,
livelihood and other different seminars, team buildings, and spiritual activities. She ended up
her speech by giving a bible verse which is appropriate to the industry.

Included in his presentation is the Company History, its Mission and Vision and the inspiring
story of the company that started from just one outlet in Quezon City to hundreds nationwide.
He also presented how the Family Welfare Committee and its program influenced and
provide benefits to more than three thousand (3,000) employees as well as the benefit that the
companies have gained from the Family Welfare Program. Being the President of the
FWCOMPHIL, he shared their good practices to other companies thru the conduct of
Advocacy Orientation organized by DOLE-NCR and its Field Offices.

Before the lunch break Director Andrea Cabansag of CAMANAVA Field Office gave
synthesis on what happened on the first part of the activity.

The first speaker for the afternoon was Dr. Renato G. Josef a professor of University of the
Philippines. He started his topic by discussing stress management. He shared some tips on
how to manage and how to overcome stress in the workplace. Because of his humor in
discussing there are no bad or dull moment during his discussion because of that everyone
pays attention in every topic he is discussing because there are lot of lessons that can be
learned and can be applied in our day to day lives.

Mr. Allan Papares, the President of Family Welfare Committees Council of the Philippines
(FWCOMPHIL). He stated the objectives of FWCOMPHIL and defines what Family Welfare
means. He introduced the ten dimensions of Family Welfare Program and explained it briefly.
He also enumerated the possible benefits that employer and worker could get of having a
Family Welfare Program in the workplace. After discussing the benefits he discussed the
rights of being a member of Family Welfare. He ended up by showing the different
companies who are member of Family Welfare and the future plans and activities of Family
Welfare.

Both Tri-Phil and Leslie Manufacturing Corporation showed by a simple presentation how
they achieved in practicing the ten dimensions of Family Welfare Program. Tri-Phil included
in their presentation their world class products that are imported to other countries some of
these are baseball gloves and bags. It also shown in their presentation their achievements and
the different activities it conducted with their employees.

Mr. Neil Natividad from Toyota is assigned to discuss the spirituality in the work place.
Ms. Norma Abad demonstrated a simple way and steps in making an organic soap, lotion and
perfume. She mentioned that there are different varieties of organic soap that can easily done
in the same procedure, also she said that it will be a good business for starter entrepreneurs
because it can start even with a little amount of capital.

Ms. Cora Pepito, Director of DOLE-NCR PAPAMAMARISAN Field Office, ended the
activity with her closing remarks and the awarding of Certificates to the participants.
