PREFACE
Our gratitude to Allah SWT who has given grace and gifts, so that we
can complete this paper well. this paper we submitted as one of the
requirements to complete the task that is given a lecturer who teaches
management introduction at the Singaperbangsa university of international
class.
the end , I hope this paper useful and will broaden the reader.
CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
1. Background
Every human being has several needs and desires. But no individual
can satisfy all his wants. Therefore, people work together to meet their
mutual needs which they cannot fulfil individually. Moreover, man is a
social being as he likes to live together with other people. It is by
working and living together in organised groups and institutions that
people satisfy their economic and social needs. As a result there are
several types of groups, eg., family, school, government, army, a
business firm, a cricket team and the like. Such formal groups can
achieve their goals effectively only when the efforts of the people
working in these groups are properly coordinated and controlled. The
task of getting results through others by coordinating their efforts is
known as management. Just as the mind coordinates and regulates all
the activities of a person, management coordinates and regulates the
activities of various members of an organisation.
CHAPTER II
DISCUSSION
1. Definition of management
1. Defined the term management, some of these definitions are
reproduced below:
According to lawrence a appley, management is the development
of people and not the direction of things.
2. According to Joseph Massie, Management is defined as the process
by which a co-operative group directs action towards common
goals.
3. In the words of George R Terry, Management is a distinct process
consisting of planning, organising, actuating and controlling
performed to determine and accomplish the objectives by the use of
people and resources.
4. In the words of Kimball and Kimball, Management embraces all
duties and functions that pertain to the initiation of an enterprise,
its financing, the establishment of all major policies, the provision of
all necessary equipment, the outlining of the general form of
organisation under which the enterprise is to operate and the
selection of the principal officers. The group of officials in primary
control of an enterprise is referred to as management.
5. In the words of E.F.L. Brech, Management is a social process
entailing responsibility for the effective and economical planning
and regulation of the operations of an enterprise, in fulfilment of a
given purpose or task, such responsibility involving:
1. Judgement and decision in determining plans and in using data to
control performance, and progress against plans; and
2. The guidance, integration, motivation and supervision of the personnel
composing the enterprise and carrying out its operations.

5. Importance of coordinating
Coordination is important to the success of any enterprise. It helps an
organisation in the following ways:
Coordination pulls all the functions and activities together. Waste
motions, overlapping and duplication of efforts, misuse of resources
are, thus, prevented. Coordination, enables an organisation to use its
resources in an optimum way. The resources flow through productive
channels, paving the way for required quality and quantity of output.
Efficiency is thus improved. Coordination brings unity of action and
direction. Members begin to work in an orderly manner, appreciating
the work put in by others. They understand and adjust with each other
by developing mutual trust, cooperation and understanding. They
move closer to each other. In short, it improves human relations.
7. Coordination process
Coordination cannot be achieved by force or imposed by authority.
Achieving coordination
through executive orders is a futile exercise. It can be achieved through
person-to-person, sideby-side relationships. Achieving effective
coordination is a sequential process. It is possible only when the following
conditions are fulfilled. (Naraina, Principle of Management : 2011)
1. Conclussion
Management functions are closely related to the coordination, meaning
that if all of the functions in the management process is applied with good
coordination will be more easily achieved.
This coordination is an important task that must be done by a manager
and this job is so difficult to do. Because of good coordination will be created
as a good manager. Coordinator should be done by every manager in the
company means to be made by any person who has a subordinate.
Coordination can not be ordered, enforced, but it would be better with how
persuasive to subordinates. Because by means of persuasion will be fully
appreciated, obeyed by the subordinates, because they feel valued and
respected.
