Personal Philosophy on Incorporation School Law into ones Teaching Repertoire

The Judicial System

Belief Statements
The courts make decisions with students and teachers best interests in

mind.
It is important to follow these laws and court decisions to the best of ones

ability.
Action Statements
I will enforce school rules, and laws in my classroom to the best of my

ability.
I will be well informed of these laws so that I know how to best follow and

enforce them.

Governance

Belief Statements
Nevadas system of governance works to serve all schools as a whole.
The system of governance was created to protect and support teachers

and students and should be respected.

Action Statements
I will communicate with those in higher levels than myself if I have an

issue.
I will stay informed on these parts of governance so I know my options.

Teachers
 Belief Statements
Teachers should obey state and federal laws.
Teachers should work to provide a safe and healthy classroom

environment for all students.

Action Statements
I will teach my students rules and make sure they follow them.
I will teach students about respect and respecting one another.

Liability

Belief Statements
Schools are liable for ensuring every students safety.
Teachers are liable to follow laws and school rules.
Action Statements
I will know my responsibilities and do them when necessary.
I will teach my students proper safety and behavior in emergencies.

Students

Belief Statements
Students must also obey state and federal laws.
Students should be able to focus on their education when they are at

school.
Action Statements
I will enforce all school rules and laws.
I will teach my students about the consequences of their actions, if they

make poor decisions.

Religious Issues

Belief Statements
Religion should not disrupt a students ability to learn.
Any religious activity should not be forced, and should be student-initiated.
Action Statements
I will teach my students to respect those with other beliefs then them.
I will avoid discussing my own religion or others unless absolutely

necessary.

Special Education

Belief Statements
 Students with disabilities should be given the same opportunity to an

education as any student.

Students in special education should be protected legally if it is necessary.
Action Statements
I will provide accommodations for special education students when

necessary.
I will teach my students to respect and be kind to students in special

education.

Anti-Discrimination

Belief Statements
Teachers should not discriminate against any student.
Teachers should prevent discrimination in the classroom.
Action Statements
I will treat my students with respect and fairness.
I will teach them about respect and respecting one another, rather than

bullying.

Action Plan

Belief Statements
Teachers should have an action plan in place, before entering a

classroom.
Teachers should be prepared for important situations.
Action Statements
I will create an action plan and know it well.
I will stay informed so that I know of any changes that need to be made to

my action plan.
