Conductorsotherthanserviceconductorsshallnotbeinstalledinthesameserviceracewayorservicecable.

2.30.1.8RacewaySeal.
Whereaserviceracewayentersabuildingorstructurefromanundergrounddistributionsystem,itshallbesealedinaccordancewithSection3.0.1.5(g).Spare
orunusedracewaysshallalsobesealed.Sealantsshallbeidentifiedforusewiththecableinsulation,shield,orothercomponents.

2.30.1.9ClearancesonBuildings.
Serviceconductorsandfinalspansshallcomplywith2.30.1.9(a),(b),and(c).

conductorsshallbeattachedtofittingsidentifiedforusewithserviceconductorsortononcombustible,nonabsorbentinsulatorssecurelyattachedtothebuilding

Whereaservicemastisusedforthesupportofservicedropconductors,itshallbeofadequatestrengthorbesupportedbybracesorguystowithstandsafely
thestrainimposedbytheservicedrop.Whereracewaytypeservicemastsareused,allracewayfittingsshallbeidentifiedforusewithservicemasts.Onlypower

(c)PerformanceTesting.Thegroundfaultprotectionsystemshallbeperformancetestedwhenfirstinstalledonsite.Thetestshallbeconductedinaccordance
withinstructionsthatshallbeprovidedwiththeequipment.Awrittenrecordofthistestshallbemadeandshallbeavailabletotheauthorityhavingjurisdiction.

2.30.8.1General.
Serviceconductorsandequipmentusedoncircuitsexceeding600volts,nominal,shallcomplywithalltheapplicableprovisionsoftheprecedingsectionsofthis
articleandwiththefollowingsectionsthatsupplementormodifytheprecedingsections.InnocaseshalltheprovisionsofPart2.30.8applytoequipmentonthe
supplysideoftheservicepoint.

2.30.8.3ServiceEntranceConductors.
Serviceentranceconductorstobuildingsorenclosuresshallbeinstalledtoconformto2.30.8.3(a)and(b).

(a)ConductorSize.Serviceentranceconductorsshallnotbesmallerthan14mm2unlessinmulticonductorcable.Multiconductorcableshallnotbesmaller
than8.0mm2(3.2mmdia.).

(b)WiringMethods.Serviceentranceconductorsshallbeinstalledbyoneofthewiringmethodscoveredin3.0.2.7and3.0.2.20.

2.30.8.5IsolatingSwitches.
(a)WhereRequired.Whereoilswitchesorair,oil,vacuum,orsulfurhexafluoridecircuitbreakersconstitutetheservicedisconnectingmeans,anisolatingswitch
withvisiblebreakcontactsshallbeinstalledonthesupplysideofthedisconnectingmeansandallassociatedserviceequipment.

Exception:Anisolatingswitchshallnotberequiredwherethecircuitbreakerorswitchismountedonremovabletruckpanelsormetalenclosedswitchgear
unitswherebothofthefollowingconditionsapply:

(1)Cannotbeopenedunlessthecircuitisdisconnected.

(2)Whereallenergizedpartsareautomaticallydisconnectedwhenthecircuitbreakerorswitchisremovedfromthenormaloperatingposition.

(b)FusesasIsolatingSwitch.Wherefusesareofthetypethatcanbeoperatedasadisconnectingswitch,asetofsuchfusesshallbepermittedasthe
isolatingswitch.

notlessthanthemaximumshortcircuitcurrentavailableatitssupplyterminals.Wherefusedswitchesorseparatelymountedfusesareinstalled,thefuse
characteristicsshallbepermittedtocontributetothefaultclosingratingofthedisconnectingmeans.

(c)RemoteControl.Formultibuilding,industrialinstallationsundersinglemanagement,theservicedisconnectingmeansshallbepermittedtobelocatedata
separatebuildingorstructure.Insuchcases,theservicedisconnectingmeansshallbepermittedtobeelectricallyoperatedbyareadilyaccessible,remote
controldevice.

2.30.8.7OvercurrentDevicesasDisconnectingMeans.
Wherethecircuitbreakeroralternativeforit,asspecifiedin2.30.8.9forserviceovercurrentdevices,meetstherequirementsspecifiedin2.30.8.6,theyshall
constitutetheservicedisconnectingmeans.

2.30.8.9ProtectionRequirements.
Ashortcircuitprotectivedeviceshallbeprovidedontheloadsideof,orasanintegralpartof,theservicedisconnect,andshallprotectallungroundedconductors
thatitsupplies.Theprotectivedeviceshallbecapableofdetectingandinterruptingallvaluesofcurrent,inexcessofitstripsettingormeltingpoint,thatcan
occuratitslocation.Afuseratedincontinuousamperesnottoexceedthreetimestheampacityoftheconductor,oracircuitbreakerwithatripsettingofnot
morethansixtimestheampacityoftheconductors,shallbeconsideredasprovidingtherequiredshortcircuitprotection.
