As a result of this lesson, students will be able to:


Recognise the different parts of the Australian Guideline to Healthy Eating food wheel
Identify the 5 food guidelines set out by the Australian Guide to healthy eating
Evaluate the positives and negatives of a particular diet and lifestyle

Teachers Prior Preparation/Organisation: Provision for students at educational risk:

Teacher access to projector Student with hearing difficulties to sit in the front row.
Student access to a device
All learning material to be created for the class. Give short succinct instructions to student with
Aspergers. repeat instructions in order to check for
comprehension.
Students that finish quickly are to continue on with the
extension section of the WebQuest. There they can
find out their daily energy requirements.

Can the students draw the Australian Guideline to healthy eating food wheel?
Can the students name the 5 food guidelines to healthy eating?

1. Student enter the class and take seats at assigned seats
2. Welcome students to the class and take the roll
3. Introduce new lesson topic, nutrition and healthy eating by YouTube video Nutrition
watching the Nutrition Rap. Retrieved from Rap

4. Ask students to open their personal devices and navigate to the Projector on whiteboard to
class website 2017hpe.weebly.com and select the activity page show the Online Activity
5. Teacher to discuss the purpose of todays lesson and what
students should be able to achieve by the end of the lesson
Today we are going to go through the Australian guideline to
healthy eating food wheel and look at the 5 guidelines to
healthy eating.
6. Ask students to access the next page (Activity One) on the
online website
7. Assess prior knowledge by asking the class: Online Answer Garden
What do you think Nutrition is? .Students are to enter what
they believe this word means but entering their answers into
the Answer Garden embedded into the website
8. Discuss with the students what they believe nutrition is and how
this links with the correct definition.

1. On the projector, ask students to watch the Video of the Avatar Avatar (Voki)
describing their task for the day.

2. Ask students to navigate this page and open the Web Quest Google Form
Questions.

3. Students are then able to re-watch the video if they wish,
otherwise they can move onto the Web Quest by selecting the
Next Button

4. Teacher is to walk around room assisting students to find the Thinglink


different parts of the website if needed, whilst also discussing Slidely
the guidelines and food wheel with students.

5. Students are able to work through the two parts of the activity
at their own pace, completing the questions as they go through
each part.

6. Once the online form is completed, students are to complete Eatforhealth.gov.au

1. To conclude the class students will participate in a Kahoot quiz
on the Healthy Eating Guidelines and the Food Wheel
.
2. Teacher to recap lesson with students and where the class will
be moving to next lesson.

1. Teacher to set homework for students. Homework to look
over the food serving recommendations on the Australian
Guide to Healthy Eating in preparation for introduction of
assignment.

2. Students to move to next class

Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be


judged?)

1. The teacher will use a Kahoot quiz about the Australia Healthy
Eating Guidelines and Food wheel to assess how well students
have learnt the material presented.

2. Teacher will also make note of completed or non-completed


worksheets. Non-completed worksheets to be set for homework
before next class.
