OPERATOR INSTRUCTIONS
Under normal operational conditions the Voyage Data Recorder will not
require any operator actions once it has been switched on.

The Port LEDs will flicker; this is normal for data transfer activity.
Holding this button for 10 seconds will save the last 12 hours or more of
information to the hard drives. The DATA then can be downloaded onto a
Laptop or PC through the LAN as soon as practicable. This can be done
only once. The data must be downloaded immediately as if there is
another incident and the SAVE function is used again it will delete any
data that is older than 12hours.
Push for one second to acknowledge and mute the audible alarm.
The visual alarm may remain active.
1.4 Switching of
Turn the key to the vertical position. The audible alarm will sound and the
ERROR led will flash. The audible alarm can be muted. The system will
take approximately 45 seconds to de energise the relays and remove the
power.

The date and time shows the time at which recording was started. The
Audio and Data files are saved in 60 second blocks, the Radar Capture
files are saved on completion of the frame grab, once every 15
seconds. Therefore the above examples will have recorded the data and
sound at on the 20/05/2003 and the Radar Frame Grab was recorded
12:46 and 15 seconds.
9. If the SAVE button was held on the VDR front panel then the required
files will have the file extension Filename.ZI~ instead of Filename.ZIP
10. Use the Copy / Paste commands to obtain the required data. Once
data has been copied to the laptop remove the Ethernet cable and
