a. What are the general characteristics of blood? Has a red color to it


and is slightly heavier and three to four times more viscous than water.
b. What is it made of? Red blood cells, White blood cells, Platelets,
and Plasma.
c. What are the functions of those parts?
i. Red blood cells- transports gases
ii. White blood cells- fight diseases
iii. Platelets- help control blood loss
iv. Plasma- mixture of water, amino acids, proteins,
carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes, and cellular
wastes.

d. What are the major functions of blood? Transporting substances
between body cells and the external environment, thereby promoting
homeostasis.
e. What type of tissue? Connective tissues.

Monocyte A large phagocytic white


blood cell with a simple oval
nucleus and clear, grayish
cytoplasm.

Eosinophil A white blood cell


containing granules that
are readily stained by
eosin.

Lymphocyte A form of small leukocyte cell


with a single round nucleus,
occurring especially in the
lymphatic system.

Agranulocyte They are white blood cells


with a one-lobed nucleus.
