The Brazilian Republic

Brazil was a country on the move. They were struggling politically and economically

while having an increased desired to become a more powerful country. To reach their goal they

needed help, so successful white men helped reshape the government, economy, and society on

the road to more power (Brazil). There were many challenges along the way to reach Brazils

goal of becoming more robust country. They did not have enough resources and the Brazilian

people were not being, recognized worldwide.

One of the Elites ideas was to make the country more white in order to have more

prominent stance among other countries. So Brazil had a large group of European immigrants

come down there (Brazil). Economically, this was a good decision it offered more jobs and

introduced their culture to the native Europeans. This movement led to an increased demand of

agricultural products, influencing more people immigrate to Brazil from other countries.

Specifically, most of the immigration was coming from Asia and Japan.

Since agricultural products were in high demand, more jobs were given to the

incoming immigrants. Specialized jobs were becoming more widely available, allowing more

people to work, feeding a flourishing economy (Lambert). A healthier economy meant that their

government was growing stronger, which was good for the development of Brazil becoming a

more powerful country.

Brazil has become the most powerful Latin American country , which entitles

them to protect African and Colombian refugees (Stelzig). They are trying to respond well, by

helping the refugees escape warlike conditions and helping them become economically stable

while introducing them to a new lifestyle. Reacting well could help tens of thousands refugees.

In conclusion Brazils journey to become a powerful country has helped them build up

to have responsibilities. From being protective and helping other countries by saving refugees

and providing some financial aid, to being economically stable for their growing population

along with a developing government (Stelzig). With good leadership and hard working civilians

Brazil will remain where they are today.
