2 Introduce what is Rainwater Harvesting System
Applied in our proposal, the rainwater is collected through collection points in the
exterior (click) and interior parts (click) of the building. Exterior Collection Points
3 are composed of Catch Basins (click) and the Interior Collection points are
composed of trench drains (click) incorporated with the design of the
amphitheaters audience area.
Given the collection points, the dimension used are determined using the Climate
Table/Historical Weather Table for the City of Malolos (click). Measured by the
PAGASA, February has the lowest precipitation level (click) of 10 mm and August
has the highest level (click) of 532mm. Averaging the precipitation levels per
month, the average Precipitation level for the City of Malolos is (click) 425mm.

With this, Minimum dimensions used are (click) 300mm for the width of collection
points, (click) 300mm for the length of catch basins and the length for the trench
drains varies depending on its location on the Audience Area. 300mm is used
based on the usual dimensions used for catch basins. (click) Giving additional
75mm allowance the 425mm yearly precipitation level, the depth used is 500mm.
Water collected from the (click) exterior collection points has a volume of 1.08m 3
per day because not all the water collected from catch basins goes to the RH
system. (click) Assuming 75% of it goes to the RH System, and there are (click) 32
Catch Basins, the total rainwater collected is 1.08m 3 per day

Water Collected from the (click) interior collection points is 18.69m3 per day
because of the (click) trench drains that collects more water than the catch
basins and all of its water collected goes to the RH System
Given the water collected from the (click) exterior and (click) interior collection
points, we have (click) 19.77m3 of water collected per day of rainy season.
Assuming that the rain continues for a (click) week, and for a (click) month, the
RH System can collect up to 138.39m3 and 553.56m3 respectively.

With this the size of the water tank can be determined by giving the daily volume
collected an allowance for overcollection. Assuming that the system collects
(click) 25.00m3 of water per day, the (click) radius is 1.78m and the (click) height
of the tank is 2.50m.
When there is no water collected, the building is tapped to the City of Malolos,
Water District. Following the Fixture units Given on the National Plumbing Code of
7 the Philippines, the total Fixture Units are (click) 76 FU times the normal water
pressure of (click) 7.50 gallons per minute. The total water demand is (click)
570.00 gallons or (click) 2,597.27 Liters per day.
Given the RH System requirements, the RH System starts with the Collection
Stage using the (click) small catch basins and the (click) long trench drains. Then
goes to the (click) treatment. Treatment includes adding an impermeable liner to
the excavation. Water quality is maintained in the cool and dark cistern and
improved through capillary action and microbe interaction in the surrounding
compacted material. Sand is compacted around the sides and top of the storage
8 tank between the permeable geotextile liner around the tank and the
impermeable containment liner. Surface water can enter the tank directly by
filtering through the compacted material above the tank, and water in the tank is
able to interact with the compacted material on the sides. This action helps keep
the water in the tank oxygenated and microbes in the soil layer act on organic
material in the cistern to further purify the stored water. Then the water is (click)
stored through the tanks for (click) distribution for good use.
