for Tuesday 6/13 Presentations.
Introduction: due Frid. 5/26 typed, to include: use 2 or more different research sources
1. background description of your organism and photo
2. what type of genetic material does it have?
3. How does it reproduce
4. is it a pathogen, or helpful, some can be both
5. if pathogen, list its hosts
Body of Paper: Ecological Impact, draft on is due Thurs. 6/1 typed, Times New Roman,
double spaced with Heading, Paragraphs indented, Bibliography (MLA), to include:
Use 4 or more different references to describe include the genetics behind its activities, provide
clear details,
1. describe its life cycle, and if parasitic, include its hosts
2. any other interactions with other life and how it functions,
3. if used in genetics for medicine or foods, describe how it is used or made, explain GMOs
4. if a pathogen how is it treated/killed and how the agent functions,
5. all species impacted & how
6. or if helpful how it is used and what populations benefit
7. what is your organisms impact on ecosystems past and present,
8. natural ecological competition or predators,
9. provide any history and current activities, treatments, cures
10. whether it harmed or helped humans or other organisms and when,
11. current research on your organism
12. Pictures, diagrams, Tables, statistics
Body of Paper: Evolution of_______: draft is due Mon 6/5 typed, Times New Roman, double
spaced with Heading, Paragraphs indented, updated Bibliography (MLA), to include:
1. species name, Linnaean classification,
2. ancestor from which it evolved,
3. some related species in its genus,
4. Pictures of these related organisms

6. co-evolution with hosts,
7. biogeography,
8. provide a cladogram
Conclusion: Due Weds. 6/7
1. Sum up your organisms role in ecology and their hosts histories.
2. How did it impact the populations over time.
3. If pathogen, what is status of its current control of it
4. or if beneficial, what is its status in medicine/research
5. Diagrams, Pictures, Tables
Public Service Brochure & Presentation Slides: Due Frid. 6/8. On one page type up
critically important information to educate the public on your organism, statistics to show its
impact/importance are very helpful.
Public Service Brochure:
A. If it is pathogenic, provide key information on sources of infection, populations most
vulnerable, its life cycle and duration of infection, how to diagnose infection
symptoms, etc., treatments, is it curable, prevention and avoidance, and anything else
specific to your organism which would help the publics safety.

B. If your organism is used for medicine, increasing food supply, medicines, research or
diagnostic purposes. Which populations it can help and how, diseases which it does
or potentially can help.

C. disorders, famine, etc. How it is used, status of the work and future plans, and
anything else useful to the public.
Slide Presentation: Use your information in your introduction, conclusion & public service
brochure to make 5-6 slides to present to class. Include a picture of your organism, its scientific
name and background.
Key information from these parts, to give your class a good understanding of your
organism and its role in life.
