TPAC Open Studio Tour Offers Many Opportunities for Visual Artists to Participate

The tour is a two-day event in which artists open their studio for a free to the public self-guided tour. It is
a great opportunity to meet art collectors, art lovers, residents, tourists and neighbors who are interested
in your creative process and the art that results. Last year a cumulative total of 6,500 people participated
in the tour of 167 studios throughout Pima County.

NOW is the time for artists to register and prepare for the November 13 & 14 tour , a Tucson tradition for
nearly 25 years. The early-bird registration fee is $45 for those who sign up and pay by 4 p.m. Thursday,
July 29. After that, the registration fee will be $55 until the final deadline of 4 p.m. Thursday Aug. 26.

TPAC provides an opportunity for all studio tour artists to have a piece in a preview show that is open to
the public for 2 weeks. The show is great publicity for the tour and a time for the tour artists to meet each
other. A fantastic kick-off reception takes place and sales have been made. Don't miss this opportunity to
be in the preview show.

The Open Studio Tour is an excellent opportunity for emerging artists to meet and establish relationships
with potential collectors. It is a great chance to get feed back on your work and begin to build your
presentation skills. If you are 15 or 60, just starting out as an artist the studio tour experience can be
valuable.

OST is also a great chance for a group of young artists or a group of artists that study together to show
your group work. Perhaps the students of a class you teach could benefit from OST participation? Public
Artists may also think about participating in the tour as a chance to educate the public about the process
and increase community support for the program. Call Sally Krommes at 520-624-0595 # 16 or email her
at skrommes@tucsonpimaartscouncil.org for information on how public artists might participate or if your
group needs a space to participate in the tour. All registration deadlines will apply so contact us soon.

When you register tell us about yourself and your art in the Artist’s Statement box. We use this
information to attract media coverage. Please include highlights such as awards, commissions or shows.
Thanks in advance for sharing your story – in 40 words or less. Please also add your voting ward or
district so we can promote the tour with the City Council and the County Supervisors. Consider setting up
a demonstration of your art process for one day of the tour and we will try to offer support of the event
though publicity channels. If you plan a demonstration please send that information to
skrommes@tucsonpimaartscouncil.org.

Save $10 with early-bird registration by July 29th, 2010. Registration ends August 26, 2010

Registration is an on line process and the application is available at:
