In the video Insight Into the Teenage Brain by Adriana Galvan, the speaker states that

teenagers brain has infinite potential. Since humans brain matures at about mid 20s, the
teenagers brains arent fully developed yet. Teenagers brains change every day as their
surrounding ultimately shapes the way the brain develops, and they are extremely reactive to
rewards and fresh excitement.
As the adolescence brains arent fully developed yet, the prefrontal cortex, which is the
last brain region to develop, isnt fully developed yet. Prefrontal cortex is a region in the front
brain and is developed at the last because the brain develops back to the front. Prefrontal cortex
involves in decision making, planning, and complex behaviours. Teenagers are bound to make
more impulsive decisions than adults as their prefrontal cortex is not fully mature yet. It was
found using tools such as the fMRI that the prefrontal cortex is linked with gut impulse.
Teenagers are more hypersensitive than adults and children when it comes to getting
rewards. Researches have shown that when teenagers are given sugar for example during their
experiment in the fMRI, their striatum reacts and expresses a happy emotion. Teenagers brain
biases future circumstances so they can get rewards in the future as well. The teenage brain has
sharp increase in sensitivity and novel information from child to adolescence but decreases in
teen to adults.
I thought it was weird that teenagers had more reaction to the money than the adults
because I think that adults value money more than the teenagers as they have places to actually
spend more money to live. I also thought it was intriguing that the reason teenagers were more
reckless than others were because of lack of development in the brain because before I watched
this video, I did not know about it. In the video, it mentions about dopamine but never really
explains it so I am curious about the effect of dopamine on teenage brain.
I think I would give this video a 3 brain out of 5 brains. The reason behind that is because
the video has good information, but the video is way too short to actually give more detailed
information, so if the video was longer it probably would have higher brains.
