Romeo and Juliet Script Assignment

Now that youve seen Shakespeares writing modeled for you, its your
turn to become a playwright! Show your creativity and understanding of
literary and dramatic elements!

Task: Write an original extra scene for Romeo and Juliet for a Summative Grade.
Premise: Create a script using the characters in Romeo and Juliet. They may have something left unsaid;
something they wish they had said to another character from the story, or add an original plot twist. Perhaps
Juliet would like to express her frustration with Friar Lawrence because the plan did not work. Perhaps Lady
Capulet would like to discuss ending the feud with Lady Montague. Use your imagination! Label the scene to
indicate where it would appear in the actual play. There is no minimum or maximum length for this scene, but it
must contain the required elements below.
Details: Final draft must be TYPED (TNR 12, single-sided, 1-inch margins, single spaced, double spaced
between speakers) PRINTED, and brought to class on the due date. You will complete a reflection page on the
due date as part of this assignment, so be thinking about your Authors Purpose when you add each element!
