Lets start
The contents screen is very easy to use and navigate. All you have to do is simply
use the stylus to press the button for the module you want to go to.

Press a button to go
to the corresponding
material.

Choose a lesson from the Students


Book by pressing a lesson button.

Choose a lesson from the Workbook


by pressing the WB button.

When you have the pages
of the book visible on the
screen, you can select any
activity by pressing on it.

Press the left and right arrows to quickly ip


through the pages of the Students Book or
the Workbook. You can move back and forth
between the pages of the selected unit.

You can choose another unit or module from


the contents menu.

You can easily navigate


your way to the different
components of each book
by pressing the relevant

Book, Workbook or
Glossary.

screen you can find
all the buttons you
need for navigation,
as well as the main
functions.

Tools

The Tools bar is movable to any


place on the screen. You can grab
it by its TOOLS title and drag
it wherever it suits you. You can
also rotate the bar by pressing the
Rotate button.

Presentations

The presentations appear without text. Before reading, students have the
opportunity to guess the context by looking at the pictures. In addition, they could
be asked to guess and write what the characters may be thinking. Students can
also develop their listening skills by listening to the recording.

Press the Show/Hide text


button for the text to appear.

The text is highlighted while it is heard. When you are reading the text
you have the option to click on a specific phrase and hear it individually.

Video

Some series include


video clips or
animations. Press
the Video button
to watch the video/
animation.

When you watch an


animation or video
clip, you can pause
the action with the
Pause button on the
left side at the bottom.

duration bar while
playing the clip or in
pause mode to move to
any part of the animation
or the video clip.

In some series, the functionality differs. For example,


in Pioneer, video clips are found at the end of each
module. Each clip is accompanied by activities for the
students to complete before, during and after watching
the video.

Subtitles

You can display


the subtitles of the
animation or video
clip by pressing the
Subtitles On button.

To view the vocabulary


for the lesson, press the
Vocabulary button.

Click on the picture to


access the ashcard in
the Vocabulary Index
for practice.

Click the Listen button


to hear the correct
pronunciation of each
word.

Click the Back button


to return to the activity.

you to the interactive
glossary.

In the glossary, you can find the vocabulary presented in each lesson.
Click on a word to see the information about it (i.e. pronunciation,
example, definition).

To access the full deck

Vocabulary Index
button found on the
main menu.

Click on individual
words to open up the
relevant ashcards.

button to reveal the text

button again to hide it.

Here you can write your text.


Click on the rubber on the
right to erase.

When you have finished, you can press the


Return button and go back to the vocabulary of
the lesson to pick up another ashcard.

Activities
All the activities include answers. To display the answers, click in the area
where the answer should be. If you click on the answer again, it will hide itself.
The answer could be a text, a shape (e.g. a circle), or a symbol.

Some (usually longer) For Match activities, click

18 For longer audio sections, a bar is displayed over the navigation 20


buttons. You can pause the sound or choose to listen to just a part of
the phrase by pressing on the bar.

Justifications

In some activities, you


will see a button with
a question mark. This
is a Justication
button. Pressing it opens
a pop-up box which
contains the extract
from the text containing
the justification for the
answer (see highlighted
position).

Click on this box and drag


it wherever you want on the
screen or just click anywhere
outside the box to close it.

Press the Listen


button/buttons to listen
to the highlighted part of
the text, which contains
the justification for the

General tips
The Interactive Whiteboard Software can be used to:

provide immediate feedback

access all components of the course instantly and easily

execute listening activities immediately without playing the class CD

play songs or videos

check the meaning and pronunciation of unknown words in the Glossary or



the Vocabulary Index

use the tools to highlight content and draw students attention to specific

points e.g. parts of speech, extracts from texts

save and print Interactive Whiteboard images along with your notes

complete charts

brainstorm ideas

save a list of relevant websites for reinforcing students skills

improve learning by giving students the opportunity to absorb information



in multiple formats (e.g. picture, text or audio)

motivate students and stimulate enthusiasm

encourage students participation and collaboration
