Encourage children to think back to the ray box they made.

Ask what happened to the ray of light when they used the
flat mirror. Explanation: flat mirrors reflect a really good
image called a true likeness of objects. This is because the
smooth surface does not scatter the light. Ask children to
use ray box to investigate mirrors in more details. They
will draw three different diagrams by moving ray box. They
will take one ray diagram and draw a line at 90 degrees (a
right angle) to the mirror. This we call the normal line.
Explanation: The angle at which the ray of light reaches
the normal line is called the angle of incidence. The angle
at which ray of light is reflected from the normal line is
called the angle of reflection. This means that the light
reaching the mirror is the incident ray. The light leaving
the mirror is the reflected ray.

The big idea Colour is very important to living things. All

the colours we know depend on light.

The teacher will make coloured disc and spin the disc. Ask
students what they will see. Explanation: when the light
hits a surface, some of the colours are absorbed by the
object and other colours are reflected. For example, a blue
T-shirt absorbs most of the different colours and reflects
only the blue colour. Ask children to predict why we see
different colours in a rainbow. Explanation: when you see a
rainbow, it is because the rain droplets in the light are
separating the white light into all the colours that make it.

Students will answer questions on pages 20 and 21 to

revise information we studied so far in this unit.
