Builders
III. DEFINITION OF THE TOPIC:

This chapter contains the project context which discusses the


companys history, business process, and problems encountered. This
chapter also shows the general and specific objectives, purpose and
description, and the scope and delimitation of the study.

3.1 Project Context

The advent of new technology gave rise to easy and hassle free
interaction between and among humans. Information Technology is a
great tool for the improvement and advancement of business. In
business like merchandising, sales and inventory system plays an
important role. It is used to track all the transactions made by the
business and responsible for monitoring the items supplies. All the
business transactions must be properly recorded and must be fully
secured by password. A computerized system is the best solution and
most innovative answer for their needs. Sales and inventory system of
stocks that are done manually actually requires a lot of time and effort.
And using a computerized system as an implementation of computer
technology would make it more advantageous.

M. Builder is located at Brgy. Mabolo, Malanday, Valenzuela. It is


one of the many hardware and construction supply stores in Malanday.
It was founded by Mr. Alberto P. Mariano together with his youngest
brother Mr. Armand Mariano and it operated since 1982 (35 years ago)
until present . Before, Mr. Simplicio Mariano the grandfather has a
carenderia, poultry supply and small hardware named Mariano
Hardware. it is the main branch in Brgy. Pulo, and they sell electrical
supplies. After that, Mr. Armando Mariano the father, decided also to
continue the business to grow and take care the business of his
grandfather. From Mariano Hardware he changed the name into A.B
Mariano Hardware. The business had improved they added some
products like construction supplies: cement, steel, gravel and hallow
blocks. The business has a delivery of product when customers ordered
in construction supply. After Mr. Armando died the journey of their
business was not finished. Mr. Alberto also continued the business and
the name of the business changed into A.P Mariano Hardware. the
business of the family continues to grow and improve and on March
2016 they stablished new hardware that has a rental of tools and
equipment and it was a second branch of their company which named
M. Builders it manages by the youngest brother Mr. Armand Mariano.
M. Builder operates Monday to Saturday, 7:00AM to 6:00PM but in
Sunday the schedule is 7:00AM to 12:00NN. The hardware has a
Cashier, Driver, 2 Helper and they have also a 12 suppliers. The
Cashier was in charged also in checking the inventory of the products,
Mr. Armand was the one who is authorized in computation of sales per
week.

The business is keep on growing but they encountered the


problem, because of manual and traditional process of the business
they encountered several problems like when it comes to the
inventory, the information of the which is sold by the customer, the
product of, the business was not totally monitor by the cashier,
because some of the customers were not taking receipt and the
computation of sale was not accurately tallied because of the
customers receipt was not enough but the sale

The business process when it comes to customer's transaction is


that the customer will choose some product to buy and after they choose the
cashier will take the order of the customer and write it down in a scratch paper and
then when it is finished the cashier will issue a copy of official receipt and they have
also a discount but the discount was based on the customer and owner agreeent,
they have also the refund when the product was damaged. But if the customer
order in construction supplies.The customer will tell to the cashier the address for
delivery of the products they ordered, the payment of delivery is based on how near
or far the location of the customer. When the customer wants to cancel the
delivery, the business have also the cancellation of order, and then the delivery
supply will be transfer to another customer or maybe turn it again in the store

In the process of suppliers delivery from Camanava, the owner usually needs a
supplier every week so from tuesday they will ask the supplier to deliver their
supplies and delivery of the supplies was always in 3 days so they will bring it
every tuesday.

3.2 Objective of the Study

General Objective:

The general objective of the study is to develop a Sales and


Inventory System using barcode scanner for M. Builders Hardware

Specific Objectives:

The study has the following objectives:


1. To develop a system that can monitor and secure the
inventory of the product.
2. To create a system that can generate reports for daily sales
automatically
3. To improve the business process by using barcode scanner
4.

3.3 Significance of the Study

The study will benefit the following:

Owner. The study will benefit the owner by the help of the system
they will improved their business process

Cashier. The system will secure and maintain their records as a


reliable source of information and will be able to receive accurate
amount of salary

Future Researchers. The study can be a guide for the future


researchers that will conduct a research about this study.

Proponents. The study will help the proponents to enhance their skills
in programming and documentation.

3.4 Scope and Delimitation of the Study
