Sorting Data Using

Excel
Step #1: Sorting Column in number order (Sml Lrg)

Open Excel Document


Select Columns you wish to order and drag mouse down to
select entire column.
o If an option box appears select Continue with
current selection
Left click and scroll over the Sort option & click Sort
smallest to Largest

Step #2 Median

In the empty cell below the final number of your first


column type: +median(
Upon typing the open bracket symbol select the column
you wish to find the median of then insert the ) symbol.
Click enter, the median will then appear in your selected
cell
Input the result into the data table provided in your
investigation
Delete the content of the cell

Step #3 Mean (Average)

In the empty cell below the final number of your first


column type: +average(
Upon typing the open bracket symbol select the column
you wish to find the mean of and then insert the )
symbol.
Click enter, the mean will then appear in your selected cell
Input the result into the data table provided in your
investigation
Delete the content of the cell

Step #4 Range
In the empty cell below the final number of your first
column type: +
Then select the highest value number of the column and
type -
Then select the lowest value number of the column
Click enter, the range will then appear in your selected cell
Input the result into the data table provided in your
investigation
Delete the content of the cell
