To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Lexie Pinkelman and I am interested in applying for the Teacher On Assignment position next year
available at Tolleson Union High School. I have had the opportunity this year to work side-by-side with and
collaborate with current Tolleson campus leaders and feel I am sufficiently prepared to perform the tasks at hand.

During my leadership internship through ASU at Tolleson Union High School, I had the opportunity to head a
Tier-III Intervention team. In this team, a group of campus leaders and I located students falling between the gaps
and created individualized intervention plans for each student. We analyzed data that helped us locate twenty-five
students that were receiving multiple F's in core subjects, had frequent behavioral issues, and excessive absences.
We then gave each of these students a school climate survey so we could identify which school support system
they felt the weakest in. After surveying the students, we created an intervention plan to help them succeed. Our
plans were based on building connections with our students, their parents and guardians and providing them with
specific, necessary tools to teach them how to become advocates for their own success. This Tier-III Intervention
team proved to be a success under my lead at the end of 2nd semester when more than half of our twenty-five
identified students improved their grades and attendance when compared to first semester.

Also during my internship, I had the opportunity to collaborate with our school's PBIS Implementation Team. As
a part of this team, I helped mentor teachers to build strong connections with students and use positive
reinforcements and incentives to acknowledge desired behavior. I was also able to mentor new teachers with
classroom managing skills by modeling lessons during PLC's, professional development and prep-connects.

I served as acting administrator during athletic events and on campus security for banquets, parent nights, and
other large celebrations/meetings. During this leadership opportunity I built positive relationships with
community members and district representatives. I handled school funds efficiently and collaborated with
bookstore managers to make sure first year coaches were in compliance with AIA regulations.

I was able to serve on the sophomore curriculum writing team and the 9-10 Block Edgenuity alignment team
during my internship. We analyzed curriculum from all subjects and aligned them to state college and career
ready standards. We also looked up the best resources to use to cover each standard while also engaging students
based on what they culturally value. We made our lessons and units diverse and supplied many tools in our plans
to encourage differentiated instruction across subject areas.

In the discipline office, I was able to help our assistant principal process referrals and assign students proper
reprimands for inappropriate behavior on campus. I professionally communicated with parents and guardians to
set positive goals to prevent future discipline incidences. I also ran a basketball open gym during lunch to prevent
fights and conflicts in the cafeteria so students had a safe place to relieve stress and energy. Also while working
with our discipline principal, I had the ability to share strategies with teachers to reduce tardiness and absences on
campus during professional development.

Excellence in Teaching and Learning for All

If given the opportunity to become a full-time Teacher On Assignment, I would passionately wish to expand my
leadership knowledge. I would do this by continuing to build positive relationships with
teachers/students/community members, and continue working with teams and committees on campus to
accomplish the goals set in our school's CIP Strategy Statements.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be honored to help serve my administrative teem, my
coworkers and the students at Tolleson Union High School.

Sincerely,

Lexie Pinkelman
