INTRUDUCTION

The company is responsible for deliver a defect free weld joint therefore a discipline requires through visual inspection procedure is
needed to do so. The procedure is not only guide line. Cods, standards and project specification also should be consulted. The visual
inspection procedure is a general guideline and QC plan attached to it should describe work sequences as part of VT procedure which
.is Appendixes in last section of this procedure

SCOPE

This visual inspection procedure in general covers weld, welding and performing NDT on weld in tanks, piping, pipelines, steel
structures , bridges and pressure vessels therefore for design, construction and inspection of above mentioned facilities cods and
.standards including but not limited to , should be used to prepare work procedures by executer and project specification by designer

REQUIREMENTS OF A VISUAL EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Visual examinations shall be performed in accordance with a written procedure, which shall, as a minimum, contain the following
:requirements

1. Direct to or from translucent

2. Direct testing
3. Remote visual Inspection and aids
4. Personnel qualifications
Date : 20 December 2014

5. Lighting intensity and equipment

6. Configurations to be examined and base
7. Material product forms (pipe, plate, forgings, etc.)
8. Methods or tools used for surface Preparation
9. Equipment or devices used for a direct technique
10. Sequence of examination

DIRECT VISUAL INSPECTION, LIGHTING INTENSITY AN LIGHTING EQUIPMENT

Direct visual examination may usually be made when access is sufficient to place the eye within 24 in. (600 mm) of the surface to be
examined and at an angle not less than 30 degree to the surface to be examined. Mirrors may be used to improve the angle of vision,
.and aids such as a magnifying lens may be used to assist examinations

Illumination (natural or supplemental white light) for the specific part, component, vessel, or section thereof being examined is
required. The minimum light intensity at the examination surface/site shall be 100 footcandles (1000 lux). The light source, technique
,used, and light level verification is required to be demonstrated one time
.documented, and maintained on file

REMOTE VISUAL INSPECTION AND AIDS

In some cases, remote visual examination may have to be substituted for direct examination. Remote visual examination may use
visual aids such as mirrors, telescopes, borescopes, fiber optics, cameras, or other suitable instruments. Such systems shall have a
.resolution capability at least equivalent to that obtainable by direct visual observation

Optical aids to vision, such as mirrors, lenses, microscopes, borescopes, fiberoptics, and magnifiers, compensate for some of the limits
of the human eye by enlarging small discontinuities. For example, borescopes permit direct visual inspection of the interior of hollow
.tubes, chambers, and other internal surfaces

TRANSLUCENT VISUAL EXAMINATION:

Translucent visual examination is a supplement of direct visual examination. The method of translucent visual examination uses the
aid of artificial lighting, which can be contained in an illuminator that produces directional lighting. The illuminator shall provide light
of an intensity that will illuminate and diffuse the light evenly through the area or region under examination. The ambient lighting
must be so arranged that there are no surface glares or reflections from the surface under examination and shall be less than the light
applied through the area or region under examination. The artificial light source shall have sufficient intensity to permit candling
.any translucent laminate thickness variations

: DEMONSTRATION AND CALIBRATION OF VISUAL INSPECTION DIRECT AND OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIA

The procedure shall contain or reference a report of what was used to demonstrate that the examination procedure was adequate. In
general, a fine line 132 in. (0.8 mm) or less in width, an artificial imperfection or a simulated condition, located on the surface
or a similar surface to that to be examined, may be considered as a method for procedure demonstration condition or artificial
imperfection should be in the least discernable location on the area surface to be examined to validate the procedure..

The contractor is responsible for assigning qualified personnel to perform visual examinations according to recommended practice
SNT-TC-IA. At the option of the manufacturer, he may maintain one certification for each product, or several separate signed records
,based on the area or type of work, or both combined. Where impractical to use specialized visual examination personnel

NDT Level I. An NDT Level I individual should be qualified to properly perform specific calibrations, specific NDT, and specific
evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record results. The NDT Level I should
.receive the necessary instruction and supervision from a certified NDT Level II or III individual

NDT Level II. An NDT Level II individual should be qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results
with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. The NDT Level II should be thoroughly familiar with the scope and
limitations of the methods for which qualified and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of
.trainees and NDT Level I personnel. The NDT Level II should be able to organize and report the results of NDT tests

NDT Level III. An NDT Level III individual should be capable of developing, qualifying, and approving procedures, establishing and
approving techniques, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures; and designating the particular NDT methods,
techniques, and procedures to be used. The NDT Level III should be responsible for the NDT operations for which qualified and
assigned and should be capable of interpreting and evaluating results in terms of existing codes, standards, and specifications. The
NDT Level III should have sufficient practical background in applicable materials, fabrication, and product technology to establish
techniques and to assist in establishing acceptance criteria when none are otherwise available. The NDT Level III should have general
familiarity with other appropriate NDT methods, as demonstrated by an ASNT Level III Basic examination or other means. The NDT
Level III, in the methods in which certified, should be capable of training and examining NDT Level I and II personnel for
certification in those methods. Personnel shall have an annual vision test to assure natural or corrected near distance acuity such that
they are capable of reading standard J-1 letters on standard Jaeger test type charts for near vision. Equivalent near vision tests are
.acceptable
