Time Allocation : 10 minutes

Micro Skill Practice : Opening and Closing the Lesson

I. CORE COMPETENCE

6. Responding the meaning of short written functional text and essay in form of in
the forms of recount, narrative, and procedure in everyday context.

II. BASIC COMPETENCE

6.2 Understanding the meaning and the rhetorical steps accurately, clearly, and
acceptable with various written language in everyday context in form of:
recount, narrative, and procedure.

III. INDICATOR

1. Identify the meaning of recount text.


2. Identify the rhetorical steps in discourse recount text.
3. Arrange sentences in recount text.
IV. LEARNING OBJECTIVE
By the end of the lesson, the eighth grade students of SMA Negeri 7 Banjarmasin will
be able to identify the recount text by arranging the sentences correctly.

V. TEACHING MATERIAL
1. Social function

a. To give the audience a description of what occurred and when it occurred.


b. To retell events for the purpose of informing or entertaining.

2. Definition of recount text

Recount is a text which has social function to retell events for the purpose of
informing or entertaining.

3. Generic structure of the recount text


a. Orientation : provides the setting and introduces participants.
b. Complication : tell what happened, in what sequence.
c. Reorientation : optional-closure of events.

I had my adolescence when I was thirteen.

3. He was in his room all day, but he did not write a single card.

5. On the last day, he got up early and bought 37 cards.
6. He sat in a public garden, and a friendly waiter taught him a few Italian words.
7. He thought about postcards yesterday.
