Actuators for general service and special
applications:
Automax offers a broad range of rack & pinion, Scotch-yoke
and electric actuators for mounting on dampers and quarter-
turn ball, plug and butterfly valves and a choice of valve
automation accessories (see opposite).
The SuperNova rack & pinion actuator produces up to 3000 Nm
output torque while the Scotch yoke heavy duty actuator
generates up to 55000 Nm. Both are available in double acting
and spring return versions. The SuperNova is also available in
180 configuration for 3-way ball and plug valve applications
as well as SST construction for harsh, corrosive environments.
Automax electric actuators are capable of handling the torque
requirements of most general service applications, and are
available with a wide range of on/off, modulating, and Fieldbus
applications.
Applications and Options:
Automax has a proven track record of providing solutions
to non-standard applications. For example with fire protection
packages which are treated with a specially developed
intumescent, chemically-inert coating that protects the

Positioners:
APEX positioners provide accurate valve positioning with
advanced features and are available with many options
including; limit switches, position feedback transmitter,
speed controls, and visual position indicators. They may
be used with 3-15psi control signals, or fitted with optional
current-to-pressure transducers for 4-20mA signal input.

NAMUR Module Options:
Several modular positioning systems are available. Automax
positioners and limit switches provide complete valve

and remote electrical indication of valve position.
Models are available in both die cast aluminium and
engineered resin versions in accordance with both
European and USA standards.
The Automax BUSwitch Valve Control and Monitoring
System enables control and monitoring of automated
on/off quarter-turn valves through AS-i, DeviceNet,
PROFIBUS DP, and FOUNDATION Fieldbus technology.
The internal pilot solenoid coil offers the advantage of
having the solenoid coil contained and protected
within the BUSwitch housing. This provides a high
degree of protection in hazardous environments and
washdowns.

Automax also has vast experience of providing solutions for

quick acting actuator applications, including hydraulic proportional
valve systems for geothermal steam applications/power
generation. Remote operating installations are ideal for hydraulic
control systems where electric actuators simply cannot meet
quick fail stroke requirements. Other quick acting solutions
include heavy duty actuators with shock absorbers for high
cycle service and 30" butterfly valve packages (where the valve
can be required to close in under 2 seconds) in applications
ranging from acetylene ESD valve applications to explosion
suppression systems at army weapons depots.
