SEPARATOR ELEMENTS
The fuel flows from the coalescer element and enters
the separator element from outside to inside. The se-
parator element is manufactured with hydrophobic ma-
terial and is designed to repel small water droplets that
may be carried over from the coalescer element. The-
se small water droplets are retained on the separator
element surface until they combine with other droplets
and become large enough to fall because of the higher
density into the water collection sump.

The fuel through the Monitor Element flows from outside to inside and passes different filter media (Fig.1).
The first filter layer as well as the following glass fiber layer collect the bigger solid particles. The following
SAP layer (SuperAbsorbent Polymer) is absorbing the bigger water particles that the fuel contains. The
next SAP layer is absorbing the smaller water particles, which havent been collected in the SAP layer
before. A final filtration of the smallest solid particles will be performed with the last filter layer.
The differential pressure of the Monitor Element is increasing with rising contamination of all layers with
water and dirt. If the SAP layers have reached the max. water holding capacity, the Monitor Element will
block and fuel wont flow anymore (Fig. 2). The Element has to be exchanged.
Sample of Marking
Please note!
The flow capacity may drop significantly when the monitor elements are contaminated with water and/
or particles. A constant monitoring of the differential pressure is mandatory! If a visual inspection is not
possible , we recommend the use of electronic differential pressure measuring devices in connection of
an electronic flow meter whose readings from a monitoring and logging unit, eg DPGUARD, is evaluated
and stops the refueling operation in case of any failure.

according EI 1583 4th Edition
Qualified acc. to the EI 1583 Specifications and Qualification Procedures for Aviation Fuel
Filter Monitors with Absorbend Type Elements.
Less than 0.26 mg/l (average) of solids in the effluent, less than 15 ppm of free water in the effluent.
This element is not suitable for the use with Aviation fuels containing
anti-icing additives (FSII) and therefore it should not be applied!

Clay Element
Applications
To remove surface active agents (surfactants), colourings and additives from Jet Fuel,
which can be present in Jet Fuel from processing and refining or may be picked up from
transportation methods such as ships, trucks or multi-product-pipelines. These unwanted
surfactants accumulate on the Coalescer element, disarm it and reduce the efficiency
of a Filter/Water Separator. Therefore Clay Elements are usually found upstream of a
Filter/Water Separator.
Product Description
FAUDI Aviation Clay Elements remove surfactants, colourings and additives by adsorpti-
on and prolong the lifetime of Coalescers (Coalescers can be disarmed by Surfactants).
The Clay Elements consist of Attapulgus Clay as Filter media. The recommended flow
rate per element is 25 l/min. The Clay Elements are mounted in stacks onto a manifold.
This ensures an equal flow rate of the fuel through each Clay Element.
