PILOT PROJECTS
WASTEWATER
TREATMENT PLANT
PROJECT GOALS
Design development and construction documentation
production for the construction of the new wastewater
treatment plan.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
Many separate objects (buildings) on the large
parcel.
A lot of mechanical equipement.
A lot of pipes with different sizes, mostly
underground.
Need for accurate elevations of the buildings and
building elements.
Engineering team with little or no experience with
BIM (lead by experienced internal BIM Manager).
HOW DID WE APPLY BIM
- Structural engineering team used Revit for the model
creation and construction documentation development.
- Navisworks was used for colision detection.
- Internal BIM Manager was in charge of:
- accurate positioning of the each building in the
comprehensive BIM model,
- coordination with mechanical team,
- coordination with external collaborators and other project
stakeholders,
- template and construction documentation control,
- schedules and quantities,
- colision detection (coordination)

INDUSTRY HALL
PROJECT GOALS
Reconstruction of the industry hall for manufacturing
of food products architectural and HVAC design.
PROJECT CHALLENGES
Old project paper documentation (from 1970).
Hall is in use with current food production need for
several project phases.
Lot of existing mechanical equipement.
Structure must stay intact.
Need for good presentation of the project solution with
goal to continue further project development.
Constant changes during construction.
Small HVAC team short deadlines.
Architectural team uses 2D CAD software.
HVAC team uses BIM software.
HOW DID WE APPLY BIM
- With site survey and with usage of the existing
paper documentation, architectural As-built BIM
model was created.
- 2D CAD (dwg) drawings were produced directly
from the BIM model (for Architectural team)
- Architectural BIM model (rvt) was uses as a
reference by HVAC engineers
HOW DID WE APPLY BIM
- Existing mechanical equipement was modelled
with bounding boxes placeholders (coarse
geometry).
- Structural components were modeled accurately.
- New HVAC elements were modeled in available
space.
HOW DID WE APPLY BIM
Need for good presentation of the project solution
with goal to continue further project development.
- Renderings for the investor were prepared
- Live presentation of 3D model with Architectural
and HVAC models combined.
