Laboratory Assignment 1: Plane Truss

Consider a plane truss shown in Figure 1, which is composed of members having a square 15 mm x
15 mm cross section of modulus of elasticity of E = 69 GPa.

Using a Finite Element Software Package (Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2014), compute the axial
stress in each element and displacements of each nodes in a global coordinate system for the loads
shown. Present your results in the form of a table and screen capture of the plane truss structure
under loadings shown.
