A Public Hearing shall be held on the 19th day of June at 6:00 p.m. at Doraville Civic
Center, 3770 Central Avenue, Doraville, GA before the Mayor and Council of the City
of Doraville at which time public comment pertaining to the Fiscal Year 2018 (July 1,
2017 through June 30, 2018) budget shall be sounded. All citizens of Doraville are
invited to attend.
A Regular Meeting shall be held on the 19th day of June at 6:30 p.m. at Doraville
Civic Center, 3770 Central Avenue, Doraville, GA before the Mayor and Council of the
City of Doraville at which time the Fiscal Year 2018 (July 1, 2017 through June 30,
2018) budget shall be approved and the budget ordinance adopted in accordance with
O.C.G.A. 36-81-5. All citizens of Doraville are invited to attend.
The Decatur City Commission has tentatively adopted a combined millage rate
of 10.88 mills for maintenance and operations which will require an increase in
property taxes of 4.06% for fiscal year 2017-2018. This millage rate generates
revenue necessary to fund the City of Decaturs general operations, downtown
development authority and capital improvements.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase
to be held at the City Commission Meeting Room, Decatur City Hall, 509 N.
McDonough Street, Decatur, on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. Times
and place of additional public hearings on this tax increase are at Decatur City
Hall on June 19, 2017 at 3:30 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. This tentative increase
will result in a millage rate of 10.88 mills, an increase of 0.424 mills over the
rollback millage rate. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will
be no more than 10.456 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a
fair market value of $425,000 is approximately $37.50 and the proposed tax
increase for a nonhomestead property with a fair market value of $575,000 is
approximately $57.50.
Based on the tax digest that was received from DeKalb County after the
adoption of the tentative millage rate, final adoption of a combined millage
rate of 10.68 mills, which is the same as the current millage rate, will be
recommended.
