STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM

TECSUP- PURDUE
PURDUES STUDENTS
MAY 2017
My name is James Adams, and Im currently a sophomore in the brand
new Cybersecurity course here at Purdue. Im a member of the Purdue Virtual
Reality Club and Chief Engineer at Wiley Radio. Ive been working with
computers since I started learning programming in middle school, and Im
always willing to experiment with the latest trends in the tech sector. I think
learning app development with Peruvians is a perfect way to improve my skills
in programming, leadership and team management.

If you look for me in my spare time, you can find me reading and
listening to music. Ive been to Mexico, the UK, France, and Canada so Im well
versed in traveling to other countries. Peru is a great choice since it lets me
utilize my 3 years of Spanish experience from high school, and it serves as the
perfect follow up to my trip to Puerto Vallarta in Mexico. Peruvian culture
sounds like a fresh new experience and Im excited to join this trip.
My name is Sienna Bates. I will be a sophomore this coming fall. I am
currently majoring in Computer Information Technology and also pursuing a
minor in Business Management.
Outside of the classroom I am involved in a few clubs on campus such as the
Women in Technology club, WiTty Sisters, and the Disney Appreciation club.

The biggest thing that impacted my decision of being CIT major was
my father and Purdue has one of the best programs for it. I was a little
unsure if it was the right major for me at first, but I have learned so much
my first year and enjoy it more than I ever thought possible. I never had any
prior coding/programming experience before college, but I really enjoy the
hands on experience and learning environment in order to create different
applications with my classmates. I really enjoy the idea of getting to break
things down to see how they work and how they can be improved. I have a
very strong work ethic and love building strong connections with the people
I work with, in and outside of the classroom.

When Im not studying or at club meetings, I really enjoy cooking,

painting/drawing, working out, shopping, traveling, watching movies, and
hanging out with my friends and family. My favorite place so far would
definitely be London, but second to that would be Hawaii where the rest of
my family is from and I love going back to visit whenever I can. This will be
my first excursion to South America but hopefully will not be my last. Im
eager for this opportunity and to meet some new friends and learn all about
the culture of Peru!
I am Trevor Bowman. I am a sophomore majoring in Computer Information
Technology. I have always been interested in computers and wanted to learn
more about the programing. My first introduction to code was in high school
with a robotics club. Since then I have been work to improve my knowledge of
code and building applications. I enjoy working in groups because it allows me
to find new way to look at problems and see other ways to come to a solution.

Outside of my time studying and working I enjoy hiking and traveling. My

favorite part about traveling is seeing how people vary from place to place.
Hiking is also something that can be done almost anywhere you travel and the
views that are found by heading of the road are amazing. I look forward to
traveling to Peru as it brings me one step closer to visiting every continent.
My name is Catalina Journet-Brizuela. I am a junior in Computer
and Information Technology on the general track. I am currently focusing on
my classes and trying to graduate on time considering I transferred in my
sophomore year.

I have been interested in technology since I was a little girl my interest

was fueled by the many unknown possibilities computer can give us. I have
been programming since high school. Although programming is not my
strong suit I understand it well enough. I have done my own studying of app
creation with Xcode. I work well in teams in the sense that I get what needs
to be done and I love to make sure everyones voice is heard.

When Im not studying and attending class, I spend my time working

out, watching Netflix, listening to music, and hanging out with friends and
family. I travel mostly to Mexico and within the USA. The opportunity of
visiting Peru to grow culturally and intellectually would be a rewarding
experience
My name is Eugene Chen. I recently transferred to Purdue University as
a junior for the 2017 Spring Semester from University of Washington Seattle.
I am majoring in Computer and Information Technology in the Polytechnic
school.

Technology has always been an interest of mine that was kick-started in

high school through the Advanced Placement Computer Science class. I
pursued Computer Science for a year and quickly realized that although I do
enjoy programming, I would much rather work with computers and technology
than work theoretically. I took a class called Intellectual Foundations of
Informatics at my old school that really took me into the world of information
technology. I learned about the design process for technology and dealing with
information that made me want to pursue a degree in information technology
and possibly work with assistive technology.

When I have free time, I really enjoy learning about food and cooking. I
have always had a passion for food since I was a kid. I attribute that to not
having cable and when there werent Saturday morning cartoons playing, Food
Network would be on or some cooking show on PBS. Being able to travel to
Peru would allow to try the cuisine of the region as food and culture would be
the main reasons I travel.
My name is Benya Chongolnee and I am currently a sophomore
studying Computer and Information Technology. I hope to focus on data
analytic and web developing in my future career. With that being said, I am
also minoring in Management and Organizational Leadership Supervision.
Apart from school work, I also work part time at Krannert School of
Management as a web designer. School and work fills up a lot of my time;
however, I am a Vice President of membership and PR for The National
Society of Collegiate Scholars at Purdue University and a secretary for
Purdue Polytechnic Institute Dean's Undergraduate Advisory Council as well.

I am from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois but is very much in love with
the west coast. I dream of living on the west coast one day. I get fascinated
by all things social media and how fast information can travel to a different
part of the world. Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube are my go-to
websites when I am procrastinating. I also enjoy painting, traveling, as well
as hanging out with my family and friends during my free time. I try to eat
healthy, but also love junk food way too much to give that up. My favorite
food varies from Asian food to Italian food; however, I do not eat beef at all. I
love water and I could spend hours doing water activities.

Lastly, I love exploring new places, and I cannot wait to explore Peru
and its culture.
My name is Jane Commerford and I am currently a freshman at Purdue
studying Computer & Information Technology. I chose to come to Purdue
because of its strong academic standing and welcoming environment. The
strong staff and encouraging classmates facilitate valuable academic growth. I
intend to use my degree in CIT to pursue a career that is challenging and
interesting where I can use critical thinking skills.

I was born in Alexandria, Virginia, and lived in Kansas City, Kansas for the
past nine years before coming to Purdue for school. I have always had a
passion for music, and have played the flute for 8 years. I have participated in
various ensembles including symphonies, bands, and pit orchestras, and
currently play with the Purdue Wind Ensemble. Other than music, I also enjoy
reading, hiking and camping, and traveling.

With the continuously growing impact technology has in our world, my

interests have brought me towards Information Technology. I am eager to see
what challenges and experiences may arise in my future career. I look forward
to studying alongside Peruvian students and learning more about their culture.
My name is Hao Cui. I am a junior student in Computer and Information
Technology, currently I have no specific track. No work experience but
developed something during my spare time. I like to do works in a group with
other people. Work with others will improve my ability.

Other than work or study time, I would like to play computer games,
hang out with friends and traveling. This is the first time for me traveling to
South America, I have seen a lot of beautiful pictures of this land. I am sure I
will have a wonderful experience there both on study and tour. Hope be there
soon!
Hello everyone, my name is Li Shen and I am from Shanghai, China. I
am a junior in Computer & Information Technology. After I graduate, I want to
pursue my master degree on related fields. One of the goals for me is to work
in a big IT company and have my own project. I hope to get out of this course
by many of things. Firstly, I want to improve my technical writing skill and I
want to improve myself on communicate professionally. Secondly, I can get
more experience on technical writing about critical thinking. When I have some
leisure time, I like spending time with my friends. Also, I like spending time
coding, playing video games and playing the violin. Hope we all have a good
time in Peru.
