Welcome to EUSurvey - the survey making tool of the European Commission. In this tutorial we will
present the different possibilities for creating surveys. In the beginning we will show basic elements
(single or multiple questions, date questions, free text etc.) in use. Afterwards you can choose
whether to see more complex elements such as dependency elements or other more advanced

2 Advanced Survey Elements

In the advanced section you will first see the use of dependency elements. Afterwards you can
decide whether to see other special elements as e.g. file upload or download, images or even matrix
questions with the interdependency of answers.

2.1 Let's start with the dependency questions. You can ask your participant a question and
depending on the answer, the participant will see a different question. Here is an example:

What did you do today?

I wrote an email
I answered the telephone
Neither

2.1.a This is an Email Question. The participant can introduce an email address here.

What was the email address you wrote to today?

Make sure to introduce the text as "Mickey.Mouse@entenhausen.de".

4
2.1.b You can also choose only certain values for a Number Question. In this case only numbers
between 1 and 60 are allowed.

How many minutes did you talk on the phone?

between 1 and 60
min

2.1.c Are you sure about that? You can still change your answer! See what other question will pop
up.

2.2 As you can see, dependency questions are very useful. In EUSurvey you can combine them with
all different elements. Just create the question, then the answer and mark both as dependent using
the little arrow flag that will show up once you've hovered over the question in the survey "Editor".

We will use this feature through the rest of this template. Please now decide what other elements you
would like to see and the respective sections will open up:
