Ancient rulers, such as Ramses II , used art to display their power in numerous ways. One
example would be the way in which Egyptian emperors ordered for great sculptures, paintings,
and even pyramids to be built in their honor. This was perhaps one of the most blatant ways in
which they displayed their power over their empire and made their subjects worship them as if
they themselves, were gods. Statues,such as the ones in front of The Great Temple of Ramses II
demonstrate how Egyptian emperors like Ramses II portrayed themselves as larger than life.
The pyramids, which would take decades to build and a great amount of labor, are a blatant
display of the immense amount of power that emperors had. Some went as far as to declare
themselves gods for their people to worship. Whatever the case may be, these sculptures and
architecture left a symbol of the power they held during their rule that has survived thousands of
years and is still important even now. The pyramids themselves have become a popular tourist
site where millions go. One can only imagine how these ancient civilizations must have been
Images for campaigns are a very popular and easy way of showing the voters what type of
candidate theyre voting for. In this Bernie Sanders campaign poster, the message is sent across
clearly and concisely. One has only to briefly look at the poster in order to understand they type
of politician he is and the type of campaign that hes running. By including silhouettes of people
within his own he backs up the slogan on the poster. Many politicians use these type of posters to

him, but about the people,making their voices be heard, and protecting their human rights. It
demonstrates unity and solidarity with the people. His campaign becomes more about the people
as one instead of those who govern and the people governed. It assures the voter that if he were
to be elected he would uphold the idea that the right to govern comes from the consent of the
governed. It is not his God-given right to rule, it is the consent of the governed that puts him in a
position of power, therefore, those who govern and those governed should be unified as one.
