3. The diagnosis that we gave to our baby was streptococcus. The difficulty that we had was
distinguishing it between streptococcus and influenza. The similarities between the symptoms
gave us the difficulty.
4a. Antibiotics are used in our experiment because streptococcus is a bacterial disease and
antibiotics can be very useful when dealing with it.
4b. After treatment, the babys prognosis is that it has a small chance to survive due to
antibiotics used to treat its disease. However, it still has a chance to die because of the severity
of these diseases.
4c. The containment plan is for the child to have minimal contact with other children and people,
because of the diseases that it has. After antibiotics, the Streptococcus is contagious for 24
hours. Therefore, after keeping the baby away from other people that are susceptible for 24
hours, then they should be able to be safe.
5a. Bacteria is causing the illness. The vaccine for this illness is known as Pneumococcal.
5b. Our baby is able to receive the vaccine at any given time, as it can be given to infants.
5c. Yes, they need a vaccine to prevent future illnesses. This is because, even though they just
had it it only provides short time immunity.
