Please accept this letter as my sincere recommendation for Ms. Jessica Smith for a
teaching position in your school. Ive had the pleasure of working alongside Ms. Smith
this year in fourth grade at Larchmont Elementary School, where she served as an interim
teacher.
During the school year, Ms. Smith and I worked together to co-teach her fourth
grade class in the areas of Reading and Language Arts. While this was a new endeavor
for her, she maintained positivity, and welcomed the challenges that would arise. Ms.
Smith worked hard to create an environment which allowed us to share full responsibility
of her class. We feel as though the class is ours and we work together to push our
students toward progress and success. Not only was co-teaching a new challenge for Ms.
Smith this year, but she also received a class which included students with special needs.
Ms. Smith took all the proper measures to ensure that these students needs were met by
collaborating with myself and other special education teachers, case managers, and the
school guidance counselor. Ms. Smith went above and beyond to make these students
feel as though they were important members of her class and pushes them toward
success.
Ms. Smith is always organized and well-prepared for her classes. She sets high
standards and expectations for her students and provides them with clear objectives for
each day. Ms. Smiths students know what to expect, and are held responsible for their
actions in her class. What I found to be Ms. Smiths best asset is her ability to maintain
relationships with her students and co-workers. Ms. Smith is relatable to her students and
enjoys joking with them in class. They are excited to come to school and learn and want
to work hard for her. Ms. Smith is also an asset to the fourth grade team. She brings new
ideas to the team for grade-level projects and is comfortable to recommend changes when
necessary. Ms. Smith understands and agrees that it takes a village to educate a child and
works with many other teachers, support staff, and specialists to ensure that her students
are receiving the proper amount of support in order to be successful.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to recommend such a hard-working
