For this experiment, we need to study the general properties of ferric hydroxide solution, starch

solution and some true solutions. There are 3 part for this experiment, where Part A is dialysis,
part B is stability of ferric hydroxide solution and part C is Tyndall Effect.

For part A,test tube A was filled with 5cm3 of 5% starch solution, test tube B was filled with
5cm3 of 0.1M Nacl ,test tube C was filled with 5 cm3 of ferric hydroxide solution, test tube D was
filled with 5cm3 of 10% glucose solution and test tube E was filled with 5cm3 of potassium
chromate. Each test tube was wrapped with pre-soak cellophone membrane and were inverted and
dipped into small beaker containing deionized water. After one hour, we test the deionised water
for each beaker with few drops of reagent according to a test tube.

For test tube A,dilute iodine solution were dropped and the colour of solution change from
colorless to light yellow. Test tube B,when silver nitrate solution were dropped, the colour of
solution change from clear to cloudy. For test tube C,when potassium hexacyanoferum(II) solution
were dropped, the solution change from clear to blue. For test tube D,when Fehling solution were
dropped, the solution change from clear to light blue. Lastly, when potassium chromate solution
were dropped ,the solution change from yellow to light green.

Precaution steps that must be taken is use different dropper for each solution in order to avoid
reaction between solution. Then, avoid from using dirty glass. If glass was not properly cleaned
before use,it may be contaminated with old reagents, which can react with new ones, changing
their concentration. Always wear safety goggles, lab coat and gloves all time in the laboratory.
