RESEARCH PAPER

PRELIMINARY SURVEY OF SHRUBS IN VEGETATION COMMUNITY BOUNDARIES

OF MANDUYOG HILL

This thesis was presented to the faculty of school of Arts and Sciences, Aklan
State University at Banga, Aklan. IN partial fulfilment of requirements for the degree
of Bachelor of Science in Biology by Aldrin P. Sarmiento on March, 2005.

This study entitled Preliminary Survey of Shrubs in Vegetation Community

Boundaries of Manduyog Hill aimed to assess the presence/ occurrence of shrubs
in the vegetation community boundaries of Manduyog Hill. Specifically, it aimed to
identify and document the presence of different species of shrubs, describe its
external morphological structure and determine its medicinal uses. Based on the
study, three shrub species grows in the vegetation community boundaries of
Manduyog Hill. These are Hagonoy, Sambong, and Lagundi. This suggests that
these shrub species can grow in area with diverse ecological structure, areas
dominated by trees, grass, and vines and areas inhabited by insects, amphibians,
and birds with a soil type of Bantog clay. The three shrub species have similarities in
ther external morphological structures and the species have medicinal uses.

The research conducted is going to be helpful. With great effort form the
researcher, finding shrub species (as stated above) in the exact location will be
easier if needed by schools for medicinal purposes in the future.
