2. Course Details

2a. Aim of the Course: To enable the students:


To The objectives of this course are to help the students develop an
understanding of the dimensions of the management of human resources,
with particular reference to HRM policies and practices in India.

2b. Learning outcomes

1. Provides a foundation for understanding the major functions and processes


of human resource management
2. To develop insight particularly with reference to HRM policies and practices
in India
3. Enables students to develop a deeper understanding of the theories and
research findings as they relate to HR functions and processes, and of how
these theories relate to their role as HR professionals
4. To apply the concepts into practice.

and issues

3. Groups

All the students are to make work groups. A group will consist of exactly 5
students. One would be the group coordinator. Any communication whether
submitting assignments or any other, with faculty will only be done by the
group coordinator. On the day of your third lecture submit an A4 sheet
mentioning the groups. The responsibility for the same would be allocated in
lecture I.

4. Academic integrity policy

Students are expected to follow Rules of Conduct and Academic Behavior


Standards as detailed in the Student Regulations. Failure to comply with
these rules may result in disciplinary actions as stipulated in the Students
Regulations.

5. Internal Evaluation Details

Internal evaluation will be conducted for 40 marks. It is continuous and


spread throughout the course. The details of the evaluation components are
given below

For the group tasks, the students have to form groups as per their choice. A
group can have a maximum of 6 members. If any group include more than 6
members, the extra members’ in the group ( as per the order of Enroll.Nos)
will get zero marks for the given evaluation component.

Note 1 : If the attendance of a student is below 60 % on the day of


evaluation, he/she will get only zero for that component (for Case Analysis
the attendance status as on 4th case discussion day will be considered)

Note 2: Copying and plagiarizing in any form for any of the evaluation
component will result in zero marks

Component 1 – Assignment

This is an individual assignment to be done in the class. Details of the


assignments are mention in 2f. Please remember this is not a test, but an
assignment which need to be written in the class. Hence you can refer your
material while writing the assignment

Make-ups will not be given for the class assignment, barring exceptional and
documented contingencies. It would be the student’s responsibility to inform
me in advance about the inability to take the class assignment in these
circumstances. Even if the student gets an opportunity to make-up
opportunity for missing the class assignment, it need not be the same class
assignment. I reserve the right to give a tougher alternative.

The assignments will be evaluated based on the following parameters

• Analysis
• Structure

Component 2 – Case Analysis


This is a partly group and partly individual task. The case copies will be
distributed to the students well in advance. The groups need to analyze the
case and answer the questions given at the end of the case in the form a
detailed write-up. It should be a hand written write-up in A4 sheets.

Component 3- Class Viva


Individual component - Make-ups will not be given for the viva, barring
exceptional and documented contingencies.

Component 4- Discipline and Class Discussion

Individual component - Based on the inputs of the individual about the


analysis during the session
