Preset Bank for Moog Little Phatty / Stage Phatty / Slim Phatty

TECHNICAL AND USAGE NOTES

The soundbank contains 100 presets compatible with Moog Little Phatty Tribute/Stage I
and II, Slim Phatty synthesizers. The presets are provided both as a whole soundbank, as
well as individual patches, all in .syx format. You'll need a MIDI interface and a SysEx
application to load the bank into your instrument.

Soundbank Breakdown:
LEAD & SEQ ELEMENTS - 28
BASS - 9
ACID BASS & LEAD - 8
PERC - 16
MOTION - 11
ARP - 8
FX - 12
TEXTURES & DRONES - 8

Most of the patches are designed in a way that yields itself best towards sequencing. Of
course the patches can also be played by hand (the bank contains a number of one-shot
fx and percussive sounds), but the best results are obtained by programming tight,
sequenced patterns.

Upon loading each of the patches the saved state of the instrument panel knobs reflects
the parameters most suitable for tweaking, providing instant expression possibilities for
each sound.

The letter in the last field of the patch name display indicates the following:
M - the intended sound is heard when modwheel is up a considerable amount
V - the patch relies heavily on velocity, so experiment with dynamics
A - turn on arpeggiator, of course the patch can also be played/sequenced in a standard
way

All sounds in the demos apart from drums are from this pack, no other samples were used.
EQ, compression, delay and reverb were applied.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING AND DISCLAIMER: Please read the entire document before proceeding.
Some Little Phatty/Slim Phatty instruments and MIDI interfaces can present problems with
sending/receiving soundbanks and presets in the SysEx format. If you haven't done this
before and/or are unsure, if your instrument and MIDI interface will work properly, it is
advised to check it using some of the factory soundbanks/instructions provided from the
manufacturer's website. The creator/vendor of this preset bank is not responsible for any
malfunction of your instrument or loss of presets (remember to backup!). The soundbank
was tested to ensure smooth loading, but is provided "as is", therefore you load it at your
own risk and any trouble you may encounter are most likely caused by your configuration.
This soundbank has been tested with Moog Little Phatty Tribute/Stage I and II Editions as
well as Slim Phatty. You need firmware Ver. 3.1 680 or newer to load this soundbank.
Update before loading to avoid instrument malfunction. Also make sure your audio
interface and MIDI drivers are up-to-date and use a current version of your SysEx
program.

CONTENTS OF THIS SOUNDBANK, EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE AND PREPARATION

The soundbank is provided as one .syx file (5Pin Shades of Techno LP-SP Preset
Bank.syx), containing all the presets and as 100 individual .syx files containing individual
presets. This way, you may choose to replace all presets in your synthesizer at once or
replace individual presets.

This soundbank requires the use of an external MIDI interface or USB-to-MIDI capable
Phatty synth as well as a SysEx program. We recommend MIDI-OX (Windows) or SysEx
Librarian (Mac OSX).

WARNING: Installation of this soundbank will overwrite all/some of your current patches,
so be sure to backup first. This can be done by sending you presets from your instrument
and recording them into your SysEx application. This is performed in the SysEx Menu of
the Phatty -> SEND ALL PRESETS. Be sure to save the backup file. You may also want to
save individual presets -> SEND CUR PRESET and save them as individual .syx files.
Refer to your instrument's and SysEx software manuals for further instructions.

You may want to test your backup before moving on, by loading it back into your
instrument. If you experience problems, using a different computer/MIDI interface is
advised.
SOUNDBANK INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

ALL PRESETS INSTALLATION

NOTE: This will overwrite all your current presets, so be sure to back-up first!
Load the "5Pin Shades of Techno LP-SP Preset Bank.syx" file into your SysEx application
and play it into your synth via MIDI IN. You don't need to put the synthesizer into any kind
of "receive mode", just play the included .syx file with your SysEx program into your
instrument. If you experience problems loading full 100 presets at once (Phatty freezing or
other malfunction) you may want to choose the SINGLE PRESET INSTALLATION method
described below.

SINGLE PRESET INSTALLATION

NOTE: This method may take some work, but if your Phatty doesn't accept the full preset
dump at once, you will have to load the presets one by one.
Choose the preset on your instrument that you wish to overwrite with the new preset from
this preset bank. Load the desired individual preset .syx file into your SysEx application
and play it. The active location on your instrument will be overwritten with the new preset.
To load another preset, move to the next preset on your synth and load another single
preset .syx into the SysEx application and play it into the instrument. Continue until the
desired number of presets is loaded.

TROUBLESHOOTING
In case your Phatty freezes or starts to show weird behavior (which may rarely happen
when using the ALL PRESETS INSTALLATION METHOD), it may be rendered unusable,
DON'T PANIC, power off/on, do a factory reset and try again. You'll unfortunately loose
your presets, as factory presets will be restored. But since you wanted to replace the
presets with this soundbank, this is not a problem, as they would have been overwritten
anyway. After factory restore, try to lower the transmit speed in you SysEx application and
repeat the instructions above. If this doesn't work, do a factory reset again and try sending
the patches individually using the SINGLE PRESET INSTALLATION method. Try a
different computer and/or MIDI interface, if you are unable to load this soundbank.
If you are having trouble with your setup, contact the corresponding devices'
manufacturers.
