CELEBRATION SLAM POEM TEAM UNDER PRESSURE

KENNETH walks downstage right making eye contact with the audience
DRAKE walks downstage center making eye contact with the audience
GAVIN walks downstage left making eye contact with the audience
EVERYONE looks down
(start speaking slowly)
GAVIN: (looks up and says) Struggling to set the example

Looks back down

KENNETH: (looks up and says) Struggling to match the example

Looks back down

DRAKE: (looks up and says) Struggling to exceed the example

Everyone looks up

EVERYONE: Its too much to handle

(start speaking faster and more dramatically)

DRAKE: (put hands out towards Gavin and Kenneth) Are these expectations other
people set for us?

(slows down speech and less dramatic)

KENNETH: (put hands on chest) Or are they ones we set ourselves?

(slow speech more)

GAVIN: (holds head with both hands) They are always on our mind

DRAKE: (holds head with both hands) They are always in our thoughts

KENNETH: (holds Head with both hands) Will we ever stop creating them?

(higher vocal pitch and more dramatic)

EVERYONE: (put one finger up like wait) NO

GAVIN: Straight As (Covers eyes)


DRAKE: Best college (Covers eyes)

KENNETH: Making money for my future (Covers eyes)

(Everyone drops hands, speaks with no emotion)

GAVIN: But everyone goes through this. (looks down)

DRAKE; Its part of growing up (looks down)

KENNETH: You have a great life (looks down)

GAVIN: (everyine looks up)You are so lucky to have the life you have

EVERYONE: You should take advantage of what you have

(spreads out arms wide)

DRAKE: Since we have the resources we need to become everything right?

(Everyone steps forward)

EVERYONE WRONG

KENNETH: All humans are still equal

GAVIN: We are all still capable of the same achievements

KENNETH: Giving us more options only clouds are heads

EVERYONE: Everyone is capable of the same feat, just with different obstacles

(Everyone walks off stage silent)

For our group repetition, would really add a cool effect. In the examples we saw we liked how it
really pushes the idea of a certain topic or line.

Rhythm to our group really keeps it going and like keeps you on track of where the poem is
going.

Element #3 Onomatopoeia

This adds power and imagery to the poem, it almost makes it edgy and it has a really cool
effect.
