RE: Amphitheater for Space 4 Art Permanent Housing Project

Dear Mr. Bob Leathers,

Team 20/20 Vision is pleased to have this opportunity for you to review and consider our Communal Design Space
for the amphitheater. We aim to bring the community of all artists together, and to create affordable living, working,
and performing spaces. We have invested hard work and time into these designs.

We were drawn to the idea to design this space because we saw the unique opportunity to bring life and
entertainment to the housing community. We revised our floor plans multiple times and have started creating final
drafts of our chit board models. Some models would have been too large to make, so not everyone's designs our
scaled the same. As for my group we had to change our scaling to 1/4 = 1ft.During the past two months we have
been designing, and editing the amphitheater. We have models, floorplans, and 3d models on the computer that we
have been working on perfecting. Our artist is Chris Warren he is a musician.

The purpose of this Amphitheater is to enable performances by artists of all kinds. Our amphitheater can be used to
display art. Our Amphitheater can also be performed in by musicians, dancers, poets etc. in this space, there is little
need for the use of speakers or microphones. This is because the shape of the amphitheater amplifies the sound. This
space also includes the Green Room, this is for performers to prepare for their performance, a lot like a locker room.
This space Also benefits the community. it can be used as a place for Community meetings. Also there is a before i
die wall for people to write their hopes and dream and bond over each others.

We plan on funding our Project in multiple ways. One of them is to partner with local businesses for free promotion
and getting people aware of the Permanent Housing Project. The amphitheater can also be used as an event space
that local businesses can use. Another way is start a kickstarter, where people can donate various amounts of money
for different things, such as having their name put up on a wall where we have all the donators. Another is the
January 1sr fundraiser we will be having, we can contact big donators and get them to come in and see our
project. The businesses that do end up helping will be put up somewhere around the amphitheater along with all our
sponsors.

We appreciate the opportunity we have been given to work with you and Space 4 Art and look forward to hearing
your feedback on our current design Please contact us via email (gholmes2020@hightechhigh.org,
xching@hightechhigh.org, & mnickel@hightechhigh.org).

Thank you,

Gavin Holmes, Xander Ching, Mckendrick Nickel

Mission Statement
We are an innovative ninth grade team at High Tech High Chula Vista. We strive to create
communities together and create spaces where artists and creators can live, work, and perform in
a communal area. We value the beauty of art and design and we believe it can make an impact on
people anywhere.

Overview and Goals

We are designing the permanent amphitheater. This space will have a green room, wooden floor
and enough seating for 120 people. Our Amphitheater is for everyone and will be made out of
four by four panels and have a removable wall. The wall will have wheels that lock in place,
which allows for easy transportation. It will be located near the upper border of the parking lot.

The purpose of this Amphitheater is to enable performances by artists of all kinds. Our
Amphitheater could be used to display art. you can display art on the wall and in The Green
Room. Displaying art in the amphitheater would make it feel open for all artists.

Our Amphitheater can also be performed in by musicians, dancers, poets etc. in this space, there
is little need for the use of speakers or microphones. This is because the shape of the
amphitheater amplifies the sound. This space also includes the Green Room, this is for
performers to prepare for their performance, a lot like a locker room.

This space Also benefits the community. it can be used as a place for Community meetings. it
can also be turned into an art gallery if need be. This place will benefit poets and public speakers.
the amplification of sound is very powerful and if you have the chance to see what it's like, I
strongly suggest in doing so. You can go in when you are at a concert and write on our very own
before I die wall a wall for everybody to put their hopes and dreams and bond over it.

Our amphitheater will be maintained by giving the tenants and residents keys that can unlock the
amphitheater. This allows them to use the space freely without any strangers being able to get
into the place. The gate lock can be a simple one like the ones used for pools, they lock
automatically when closed so that the residents don't have to lock the gate every time.

Funding
The fundraiser will be on January 21st from 6pm to 9pm at 325 15th St, San Diego, CA 92101
(space 4 art). We will be selling tickets and putting flyers around town. We can ask to put flyers
up in the business that sponsor us so we can get more business. There will be entertainment for
everyone that participates. There will be things such as games, raffles, a silent auction,
entertainment, etc. We will also provide food and beverages. There will be a fifty dollar
admission fee for anyone outside of the High Tech High Chula Vista community.

We will be applying for the National endowment for the Arts grant. The National Endowment
for the Arts wants to fund projects that use art to improve communities and bring them together.
The National Endowment for the Arts are willing to fund upwards of 100,000 to any project that
meets their criteria.

Another way, we plan on funding our design is by partnering with restaurants in the Eastlake
area to receive a percentage of the proceeds during the agreed hours. Another idea that will help
us collect funds is having local business sponsor our project. They can donate $500 or more to be
on the sponsor wall located outside of the amphitheater. If they donate an extensive amount of
money, we will have a promotional event in the amphitheater for that business. Many shows will
be hosted in the amphitheater which opens another opportunity to earn funds. Businesses will be
able to sponsor shows for $100. The amphitheater can benefit the Permanent Housing Project in
many ways such as increasing revenue, entertainment, expression of art and the promotion local
artists.

Site and Physical Planning

The amphitheater will be on the ground floor in the north east corner. It will also be under the
catwalk and be close to bordering the parking lot which will help for bigger events.
