Observation analysis

House bill 1375 was observed. THis was a descriptive observation. House bill was to arrest

people who drill for oil illegally and to make oil drilling illegal in Maryland.

Points for HB 1375:

-5,000,000 gallons of freshwater are needed to build and frack one well

-after wells are fracked the wastewater comes out and trucks need to dump them into wastewater

ponds

-the trucks could spill the water

-Could harm the bay

-harm tourism

-noise pollution

-jobs aren't needed in areas that would have fracking and those jobs aren't permanent

-drilling regulations dont make it safer

Points against HB 1375:

-48% of states frack

-the US is the largest producer of oil

-natural gas is used to create renewable energy

-western MD doesnt have much money

-regulations are strict

-chemicals are known
