Internship Goals
While I only have a month with Sports 1 Marketing for my schools internship program, I hope to gain knowledge of the sports
industry that I can take with me for a lifetime. Whether it be Daves lessons about how to be successful, to marketing strategies
for diverse audiences, I hope to expand my reach on the world around me through S1M. I am also utilizing this experience to help
me determine potential majors for college, which I will be applying to this fall. I am so fortunate to have this opportunity.

Biography

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Moved out to Carlsbad, California in 2007. Currently a rising senior at High Tech High North
County, a charter school that focuses on project-based learning. Captain of HTHNCs Varsity Cross Country team, and school
record-holder in track & field. Serve as a Junior Intern with the University of Southern Californias Shoah Foundation and a
Program Assistant at the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA. One of six statewide political party chairs in California Youth &
Government program, which accommodates 3,500+ delegates from across the state. Also involved in school as President of
Debate team, Co-Editor-in-Chief of school newspaper, and volunteer with the City of Carlsbad. Favorite sports teams include the
Los Angeles Rams, St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, Los Angeles Angels, and the University of Missouri Tigers.
Sports Business Interests
Having been born and raised in St. Louis, I can trace my connection to sports back to going to Cardinals games in a stroller. I
have been fortunate enough to have visited 25 out of the 30 MLB ballparks in my lifetime thus far, and I am an avid fan of a
number of California sports teams, from the L.A. Rams to the Los Angeles Angels. To further my interest in the industry, I was
selected to attend Saint Louis Universitys Summer Sports Business Academy in 2016, and I began my time with Sports 1
Marketing as a one-day job shadow in my sophomore year of high school. Being an intern at Sports 1 Marketing will allow me to
create new connections, as well as improve on my current skill set that I will need for the corporate world one day.

SportsBusiness Journals - Weekly Articles & Entries

For this assignment, all interns were to complete a weekly
write-up on a recent issue of the SportsBusiness Journal. Each
entry would need to include a summary, critical analysis, and
opinion, and would usually be 1-2
pages in length. This component
was designed to provide interns
with an opportunity to gain
exposure to the various fields
within the sports industry, and
gave current employees a chance
to see interns writing abilities.

Below, you will find a list of topics that I

explored and analyzed during the first
three weeks of my internship at Sports 1
Marketing along with a brief excerpt
from my writing for each submission.

Week 1: IMG Sponsorship with Nebraska football

Excerpt: As I examine the strategy used by IMG College, I cannot help
but admire the ingenuity behind such a simple concept.

Week 2: United Airlines & L.A. Coliseum naming-rights

Excerpt: This agreement being recognized as the richest in all of
college football should not come as a surprise

Week 3: Lavar Ball and the ZO2

Excerpt:

2017 All Stars of Giving Campaign for Warren Moon & Jim Leyritz
For this project, I worked on social media activation for the 2017
All Stars of Giving competition, using platforms such as
Facebook and Twitter to recruit voters. I campaigned and
strategized on behalf of Hall of Fame quarterback Warren
Moon and World Series Champion Jim Leyritz.

Objective: to spread the word about Jim and Warrens

nominations in order for them to reach the Top 10 list and
therefore advance in the All Stars of Giving competition

Tasks: research effective social media methods, gain insight

Sponsorship Research for SB Nation Sports Blender Radio Show

For my second project, I participated in prospecting potential sponsors
for the nationally syndicated radio show, Sports Blender featured on
SB Nation, targeting brands such as Nike, PepsiCo, and Bank of
America.

Objective: target potential sponsors for Sports Blender through

research and data collection through customer relationship
management (CRM) tool on ZOHO

Tasks: search the web for major companies and corporations that
could potentially sponsor radio show, gain familiarity with CRM

Outcome:
