Basic Astrology

Understanding basic formulas of energy is a very important aspect to any magician

because with a simple understanding of how energy works we are better able to
understand the effects it implies within the world we live in as well as our own sphere of
sensation. Astrology brings in to focus the planetary and zodiacal forces that move the
tides within our individual worlds and in understanding how these energies manifest it
give the magician a great span of control to effect change and even rearrange how those
forces manifest around us and in us.

There is some terminology to understand and in this series of lessons we hope to assist in
elevating your understanding of Astrology and these Divine forces of the universe.

Elements: energy substance of experience

Signs: primary energy patterns or specific qualities of experience.

Houses: the fields of experience where in specific energies will most easily be expressed
and most directly experienced.

Aspects: the dynamism and intensity of experience; how the energies with in the
individual interact.

The Dimension of Experience + the Quality of Sign = an urge toward self expression in
an Area of Life (the House). The specific aspects of the planets reveal how easily or
harmoniously a person can express that urge to fulfill a need.

One can attribute these various aspect of astrology the elements, signs, houses, and
aspects to you own home. The houses would represent different rooms in the house, the
elements the general feel of the room, the planetary signs a dominant personality in the
room, the zodiacal signs the general dcor of the room, and the aspects how the different
energy patterns in the house get along with one another.

One might see the kitchen, the common gathering place of the family as the fourth
house on the zodiacal chart. If ruled by Capricorn the dcor is probably black cabinets,
black and white tiles with grey countertops. Now if we add a person to the room, lets say
Mercury you would probably recognize an very intellectual gentleman who likes to
engage in long conversation. Now if your sister is in the adjacent dining room and cant
stand philosophizing; she may represent a opposition aspect which could create a lot of
tension if the door between the kitchen and dining room opened up. Of course this is a
quite abstract representation but it brings home a general overview.

physical body and overall approach to life.

expenditure of energy.
Water/Earth conserve nad resist the flow of vital energy and hence indicate self
containment or a tendency of living within ones self.
