Approach to changes
The list of the recommended syringes was changed. The changes are described in the following.

Recommended It is recommended to edit the list of syringes, that are saved on the pumps by CODAN ARGUSservice.
Mandatory

Installation Information
All required files to update the CODAN ARGUS A600S - Syringe Pump are available on www.codanargus.com (login area).
Please refer to the service manual for a detailed description of the update process.
PC System prerequisites:
Firmware version > 4.32 (if you have an older version, first update to the latest version as described in the service
manual)
CODAN ARGUSservice V5.06 or higher (if required, download it from www.codanargus.com)
Windows 7 with the latest service pack
Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 or higher (if required, initiate update by CODAN ARGUSservice installer. Internet
connection is required)
A free USB port to connect the interface cable to the CODAN ARGUS A600S - Syringe Pump.

Description
This document describes the necessary pump configuration change for an additional syringe in the CODAN ARGUS list of
recommended syringes.

New main feature

Interface dimensions changed (according to B.Braun)
The design changes are related to the syringe piston and
syringe plunger and will not affect the syringe critical
dimensions, such as barrel diameter, length of the plunger
or gliding characteristics. That means, the current usage and
performance of the B.Braun Omnifix 50/60 ml Luerlock
syringe in combination with syringe pumps will not be
affected.

If you want to use the additional syringe, you should add it to the pump configuration list. Use CODAN ARGUSservice to
add the additional syringe to the pump. You may not add more than one additional syringe, just one USER SYRINGE per
size is possible.

Be aware of the following safety aspects

Do not perform any configuration change as long as the device is in use and / or connected to a patient.
An active communication between the pump and the PC is not displayed on the pump.
A Standard Safety Check (SSC) has to be performed after every configuration change.

How to update the list of recommended syringes on a pump

1 Connect the pump to the PC where CODAN ARGUSservice is available.
2 Switch on the pump while keeping the keys ON / OFF and pressed to
enter the configuration mode. +
3 Start CODAN ARGUSservice.

4 Press FIRST GENERATION OF DEVICES.

5 Press PUMPS ARGUS S 600/606, 707/708.

6 Press SEARCH to select the respective serial COM port.

7 Press START CONFIGURATOR.

8 Press CONFIGURATION.

9 Wait until the displayed COMMUNICATION window has finished update.

The window ARGUSservice CONFIGURATION will open.
10 Press EDIT. The window ENTER YOUR SECRET PIN CODE will open.
11 Enter your PIN and press LOGIN.

12 Scroll down the upper left window and mark 50/60ML USER under USER
SYRINGES.
13 Enter the values given below to the 4 dimensions, displayed in the upper right window. You may not add more
than one additional syringe, just one is possible as USER SYRINGE.
B.BRAUN Omnifix 50/60 ml, new dimensions:
345 Syringe length (user 50ml) 82.0 mm
346 Plunger length (user 50ml) 20.0 mm
347 Barrel diameter (user 50ml) 31.0 mm
348 Clamp diameter (user 50ml) 30.0 mm

14 Scroll down the upper left window and mark 50/60ML under SYRINGE
SELECTION.
15 Mark index 150 USER SYRINGE 50ML in the upper right window.
16 Activate the checkbox YES in the middle of the upper right window. This
will enable the additional user syringe.
17 Ensure, that index 153 BRAUN OMNIFIX 50/60 ML is set to YES too.
18 Press DOWNLOAD to save the additional syringe on the pump.
19 Wait until the message PROGRAMMING WAS SUCCESSFUL is displayed.
Confirm by OK.
20 Exit CODAN ARGUSservice.

21 Perform a Standard Safety Check (SSC) as described in the service manual.
