In order to determine the gender of the target audience of the

production a questionnaire using SurveyMonkey. The response from the
participants in the questionnaire was 50/50, meaning that the
production is suited to both genders as was specified in the brief.

In order to determine the age of the target audience of the

production a questionnaire was once again used from SurveyMonkey.

of the characters in the source material of the production.

production a questionnaire was once again used from SurveyMonkey.

used throughout the source material for the production.

Competitors
Kanye Wests music video for Stronger used the story of Akira
for the visuals, completely recreating the story to fit the lyrics
of the song. This is very similar, because the production will be
recreation the story of SHE. Kanye west is a multi-millionaire so
his budget for, Strong will be much larger than the budget for the
production. This will insure that the production value for
Stronger will be much greater. Kanyes stronger video has
246million views, which is a staggering amount. REDVELVETROSE will
be replicating the way the visuals tell a story about lyrics but the
words dont match the lyrics, in Kanyes video. Because it is an
effective tool, allowing the visual show you the lyrics giving
understand but a separate entity.
Blurs music video for Universal used the story of A clockwork
orange for the videos, borrowing heavily the character of Alex and
the dystopian theme. This is very similar to the production as the
theme of youth in SHE will be prevalent in production. Blur has a
machine of a record label working for them giving them a lot of
publicity and the have a lot of clout, this means that their music
video will have greater exposure than the production. Because of
this exposure Blurs video was able to amass 9 million views. The
visuals of Universal are very stylised, this will be replicated in
REDVELVETROSE, because it allows the viewer to be transported into
another universe.
Research into Market
After accumulating information, its obvious the idea for this
production is completely unique. As there is no evidence of a music
video about a radio drama. Retelling the story using both the song
and the visuals, this is why there is a need for the production in
the market because there is a whole in the market in this area. This
could also mean that there is no demand in the market for it, though
the demand from the fans of the radio drama to visualise the events
that occur in the story, is overwhelming justifying the need for the
production.
Market Regulation
"The Broadcasting act of 1990 requires that OFCOM does all it can to
secure that nothing in programmes offends against good taste or
decency or is likely to encourage or incite to crime or lead to
disorder or be offensive to public feeling."
Ofcom's duties are wide-ranging, covering all manner of industries
and processes. It has a statutory duty to further the interests of
citizens and consumers by promoting competition and protecting
consumers from harmful or offensive material.
Some of the main things which Ofcom preside over are licensing,
undertaking research, creating codes and policies, addressing
complaints and looking into competition.
PRINCIPLE: To ensure that people under 18 are protected
1.1 Material that might seriously impair, the physical mental or
moral development of people under 18 must not be broadcast.
1.2 Children must be protected by appropriate scheduling from
material that is unsuitable to them
2.1 Broadcasters must ensure that material which may cause offence
is justified by the context. Broadcasters must be careful when
representing: offensive language, violence, sex, sexual violence,
humiliation, distress, violation of human dignity, discriminatory
treatment or language (for example on the grounds of age,
disability, gender, race, religion, beliefs and sexual orientation).
3.1 To ensure that material likely to encourage or incite the
commission of crime or to lead to disorder must not be included in
TV or Radio services.
Platform
REDVELVETROSE will be aired on YouTube, because that is where the
target audience frequent, the number of people 17-24 watching
broadcast television has been dwindling for years. The total number
of hours of video watched on YouTube each month in 2017 was 3.25
billion, 11% of that were people aged 18-24. Making this a great
place to publish the video as there is a large viewer ship that it
would appeal to.
