PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GOALS 2

Personal and Professional Goals

In any pursuit, whether personal or professional, setting goals is one key to success.

Initially, goals may appear unattainable. Defining short and long term goals, however, enables

individuals to outline measurable steps to take toward these goals. Further, by placing deadlines

on these steps, individuals can motivate themselves to systematically work toward achieving

their goals. Thus, when writing goals, it is pertinent to ensure that they are specific, measurable,

attainable, realistic and timely.

Personal and Professional Goals

Short Term Goals

the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)

and become a registered nurse.

local hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Within two years of becoming a registered nurse, I will become a certified NICU

nurse.

Long Term Goals

Within four years of graduating nursing school, I will join the NICU team that attends

high-risk births, resuscitates, and transports neonates.

Within five years of graduating nursing school, I will begin travel nursing in the

United States as a NICU nurse.
