Software Production Diary

Unit 33 animation mini project copied over from the pen drive into my Unit 33 assignment 3
folder.

I have opened Flash and now selected the workspace to be ActionScript 3.0 and change the
FPS to 12 FPS to 24 FPS.

To import all the images for this animation I went to File >
import > import to library and selected all the images in the Picture
folder, all the images are now in the library section in flash.

I have now saved my project in the correct location by going to File > save and naming my
project, My Mini Project in the Unit 33 folder on the h drive.

To check the size of all the images in the project I am going to right click and press
properties to view the size of any image.

To change the stage size I went to the properties tab and changed the dimensions for the
stage size to 640 x 480, this is now the stage size for my animation.

My timeline is showing at the bottom of my screen in flash

I have selected the colour red for my text and selected the text tool to to type The New
adventures of Percy penguin, every word on its own line.

I switched to the paragraph tab to centre all the text together, which makes the text look a
lot greater and central

I right clicked on my text and selected motion tween. I slowly moved the text downwards
towards the bottom of the screen.

I have to extend frame 12 to frame 50 now on my timeline, I did this by clicking my frame 12
and dragging the bar down to frame 50.
I am creating a new layer; I do this by clicking the icon at the bottom left of the timeline and
then double clicking the new layer to rename is to graphics

I am now adding a blank key frame; I do this by going to frame 50 on the graphics layer and
then selecting blank key frame.

I am now making 46 blank key frame since there are 46 images to be imported; I do this by
selecting frame 50 to 96 and converting them all too blank key frames.

I am now adding my first image to the timeline; I do this by selecting frame 51 and going to
the top image in the library. I simply drag the image on the stage lining it up perfectly.
I now need to repeat this process 46 times until all the images are dragged on the
stage.
All images have now been selected on the stage.

I am now inserting a third layer by again clicking the icon on the

bottom left of the timeline and naming this layer, music.

I have imported the cbeebies theme tune mp3 file in to flash and dragged it on the new
music layer at frame 96.

I have selected frame 120, right clicked the frame and inserted key frame, the music has
now extended to frame 120.

I am now creating a fourth layer by again clicking the left hand side icon and renaming this
layer to credits

On the credits layer I right clicked at frame 95 and inserted a key frame I am now dragging
on the cbeebies.jpg on to the stage off to top centre.
I have now also right clicked on the cbeebies image, converted it to a symbol, and always
renamed the image to Logo.
I have selected the 95th frame and created a classic tween,
allowing it to move down in to the centre of the screen.

To publish my animation I go to file > publish, the animation only take a few second to
publish and your animation is complete!

24/01/17
I have started the production of my animation by opening adobe flash and in the properties
tab changing stage size to 640x480 and changing the scene to 12 frames per second.

I am now going to add all my 360 pictures that I took of my animation production.
I will go to File, Import to Stage, and then I will find the folder which all 360 of my images
are in and select the top one and select Open.
Flash will recognise that there is a sequence of images from that same folder to be added
into Flash and will ask you if you want to import all, you press Yes.
Your entire frame should be on your stage timeline like below.

Now that all my frames are in place and my actually animation episode is in play, I will now
be added a .PNG image of the Starting title of the episode which will run for the first few
seconds of the animation.

First, I will make a new layer by clicking on the icon in the bottom left hand side of the
screen and I will rename this layer, Logo.

I will now be adding my title image by going to File, Import to stage and then finding my
image in the assignment 33 assignment 3 folder, I then select the image and press open.
This is how the image look once first imported.

I am going to be animating this title image in to the stage and then out of the stage and the
whole movement will take around 3-4 second in total.
My first of the image will be outside the stage like this,

Frame by frame I will slowly move the title down on each frame by copy and pasting the
image on to the next frame and then moving it again slightly, below are a few screen shots
of frame 2, 3 and 4 so you can see the decent of the title into the stage.
I will now be adding my sound effect in to my production by firstly creating a new layer by
clicking the icon by the bottom left of the timeline.

I will now rename this layer to something like football sfx since the sound I am using on
this layer is the sound of the football in my animation being kicked by both of my characters.

To line the sound up perfectly with every time on the my character kick the ball I need to
find the frame 1 frame after they make contact with the ball to put the sound on, A screen
shot of an example will be below.

I repeated this process for every time one of my character kicked the ball, some more
screen shots of example of synchronizing the sound effect with the frames will be below.
Now it is time for me to add my credits into the end of my production.
To extend the time of my animation I copy and pasted the very last frame of my animation
for around 4 seconds to give time for the credits. I did this by right clicking on my final
frame, Copy frames and then clicking the next one and selecting Paste frames I did this
around 48 times to add an extra 4 seconds on to my production for this.

At home in Photoshop I add the credit text using the text tool and simply type my credits
out, I exported it as a .PNG image file so it is not effected by pixilation at all.
First, I created a new layer by clicking the icon at the bottom left of the timeline and
renamed the layer Credits.

To import this image of my credit text I go to File>import to Library and select my .PNG
image in the unit 33 assignment 3 folder and press open.

Now I need to select the final frame of my animation again and drag this image from my
library on to my stage, for the first frame I need to drag it off the bottom of my stage so I
can add the rising effects next.
As before when I copy and pasted the same frame many times, I am going to do this but
with on the credits layer with my credit text.
Once copied and pasted in to the next frame I will then move the text / image up slightly
and then copy and pasting again, this is a manual away to the classic tween effects; I
manually did this effect until the text had gone all the stage up the stage and exited the
stage at the top.

Now my credits are completed on my I now need to add the cbeebies logo and do the exact
same rising effect since the logo will follow after the credit text, I will add the relevant
screen shots since the steps are exactly the same as what I have just done for the credit text
image.
The very last bit to make my animation complete is to add the Cbeebies music at the
end over this credits section.

I will start with creating another new layer by clicking the new layer icon on the
bottom left of the timeline and renaming this layer something like Theme tune.

I will now import my theme tune by going to File> import>import to Library and selecting
the MP3 file and pressing Open.

Once imported I again need to go the final frame of this animation but be on the new
Theme tune layer and I will right click on that frame and inserting blank key frame on that
specific frame, this will start the theme tune at the point.

Now still having that frame selected I will drag the theme tune file from my livery on to the
stage.

Because we inserted a blank key frame at the point when the credits start and when my
animation ends, now that the them tune is starting at the point the theme tune will now
only start once the credits come on the animation. This may differ with other peoples
animations and sounds files but this is how I manage to time mine perfectly.
Now that all the ending of this animation is completed I can now publish my animation,
before this I will first show a screen, shot of how my timeline looks after all the credits is
complete.

Now it is time to publish my animation, Snoop the Snake.

First I save my project and then go to File>Publish settings which brings up this window of
publishing options.

Once I have selected all the correct setting for the publishing of my animation I then go to
File>Publish
My animation only took a few second to publish and automatically the publish version of my
animation in in my Unit 33 Assignment 3 folder.

I can now watch my animation in many different formats!
