NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE DIVISION TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR GRADE 6 TEACHERS IN
THE IMPLEMENTATION OF K TO 12 BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM (BEP)

It is the 6th year of the K to 12 Curriculum Implementation and the Grade 6 teachers underwent the
training this year.

The K to 12 Curriculum for the Grade 6 teachers was indeed a very successful one.

Day 1 (May 25, 2015)


The training was started with a smiling faces shown by each participant. This is a manifestation that the
Grade 6 teachers are willing to embrace the mission task by God; and that is to implement full the K to 12
Curriculum with your minds, heart and soul. The Mass Training for Grade 6 teachers on the Basic Education
Curriculum started on May 25, 2017 in the morning. Delegates from the different schools in the Division
of Catbalogan City were made to register before the start of the sessions. After which, an opening program
was started with singing the National Anthem with Mrs. Vivian Dabocol, Catb. III teacher, conducting,
followed by a prayer thru a multimedia presentation.

Mr. Maximiano Casio, one of the learning facilitator, present an opening remarks thru a multimedia
presentation giving the background of K to 12 Curriculum, then Mrs. Paulina Gabon, Education Program
Supervisor, emphasized that a twenty-first century teacher must learn, unlearn and relearn the skill
needed to produce a twenty-first century learner s who are equipped with 21st century skills such as
information media and technology skills, learning innovation skills, communication skills and life career
skills. For the levelling of Expectation, Mr. Jojit M. Casio, let the participants write their thought and
concerns about the training in strip of paper so we can reflect on our own answers. Mrs. Paulina D. Gabon,
Education Program Supervisor in English announced that the number of trainees will be divided into three
(3) class to their respective venues, class 1 in Casa Cristina, class 2 in tia anitas 2nd floor and class 3 in fame
hotel, the session will start at exactly 1:00 pm to their respective assigned class venue. In the afternoon
Mr. Maximiano Casio leactured comprehensively about Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao subject although
the projector was late. The participants actively participated on the different activities during his session
with them.

Day 2 (May 26, 2017) started with a simple program led by Group 1 (Group Makadiyos). After that Mrs.
Violeta Mabulay, Teacher of Catbalogan V District lectured about Filipino subject, she discussed about the
conceptual framework of the Filipino subject and the art of teaching the subject. In the same day, Mr. Jojit
Casio lectured about Araling Panlipunan subject discussing the principles of constructivism and
presented a video clip on how beautiful the Philippines is. The participant were responsive and actively
participated in the different activities.

Day 3(May 27, 2017) Mrs. Gina Boola lectured on the PE/Health, explaining the Content, Content
Standard, Performance Standard and Learning Competencies of the Curriculum Guide in PE & Health
Education. The participants actively demonstrate the love of Philippine Folk Dance thru the dance Itik-
itik. For the afternoon session Mrs. Carren Julaton lectured on the Agriculture and Insdustrial Arts, she
also demonstrate on how to do budding and marcotting. After the session every group demonstrated
the budding and marcotting technique also made a product thru recycled materials.

Day 4(May 28, 2017) The English subject was lectured by Mrs. Ana Bella Bajet the different theories,
concepts, goals, standards, and competencies of the English curriculum was discussed. She let the
participants evaluate their own teaching reading practices and its implication to the development of
reading comprehension. In the afternoon, Mrs. Elvira Carpon lectured the Math subject, she discussed
and let the participants apply bar modelling to solve word problems involving whole numbers, fractions,
ratios and percent.
Day 5(May 29, 2017) Mrs. Dora Dagaas lectured the ICT/HE. The participants produce a simple product
using ICT tool and based on the needs and demands of the community. She also demonstrate the
process of making/sewing a Two-Toned Pillow Case thru a multimedia presentation. Mrs. Vivian Dabocol
lectured about the Science subject for the afternoon session. She explained how the skills and concepts
spiral from Grade 5 to Grade 6 to Grade 7 and state how the content standards, performance standards
and learning competencies complement one another.

Day 6(May 30, 2017) Mrs. Josephine F. Casis lectured about Music/Arts. She discussed the conceptual
framework of MAPEH and demonstrate on the art of teaching Music and Arts. The participants was
responsive and actively participated during the session. In the afternoon session, Mrs. Paulina D. Gabon,
Education Program Supervisor in English gave each group of participants their task in making a lesson
plan. The participants immediately do some research and gather learning materials for lesson planning.

Day 7(May 31, 2017) the participants continue their work in making a lesson plan. Brainstorming and
collaboration from different schools was observed. Thereafter, the training was ended with a simple
closing program. Mrs. Luz I. Orbe, Chief Education Supervisor gave her inspirational message to the
participants. The training was indeed a success as we go home with full baggage of learning on the part
of the trainees as well as the trainers.
