1.2 I can explain what risks there may be in using collaborative technologies and how
to keep them to a minimum
Scenario 1: You are working on-line collaboratively, including the use of forums, what risks
could happen if you give out or display the following on a website available to anyone to see:
Your images: They can edit your images and use that for illegal purposes and without
you permission.
Confident information like banks details: They can steal your money and make fake
bank accounts using your name.
Scenario 2: At school we all use Google drive to save and edit our work. The Google
servers save your work after every modification.
List all the risks you can think of if the Google Servers only saved your work every 30
minutes automatically? If I wanted to make a change on my documents then I
wouldnt be able to do so.
1.3 I can use appropriate methods to promote trust when working collaboratively
Your teacher will put you in groups of 3 to work collaboratively using G-Drive to create the
following Google documents:
Evidence:
All documents made by the team have sensible content in them (Open your
documents and Print Screen each file into your weebly page, or share the link to the
file from your weebly page)
All members of the team have acted maturely when working collaboratively
using G-Drive to create three Google documents.
In your weebly page, place a print screen of the Unit 3 CT_1.3 Shared Docs folder (the
folder is in G-drive). Then explain and highlight the owner of each Google Document
(i.e. the team leader of that document) and what or how you contributed to it.
1.4 I can carry out appropriate checks on others' online identities and different types
of information
You will now prove that you can check peoples online identities and whether they are
genuine people.
Evidence:
You need to complete the tasks set out on the next page titled
Collaborative technologies identities and the upload the completed task to your weebly
page.
Notes:
1. Change the questions as you are writing in first person.
2. DO NOT copy any of the text in RED
Collaborative Technologies Identities
1. Watch the following videos (by clicking on the titles) and understand a little more about
online identities. Your teacher may do this activity as a whole class discussion.
Stolen identities
2. Fill out the table below. You will need to research what people say about the following
people/places. To get you started use Google search engine.
Channel 4
Sainsburys
1.5 I can identify and respond to inappropriate content and behaviour
Candidates should report inappropriate content and behaviour to their assessor. They
should not engage in any dialogue or information exchange that contravenes the local
acceptable use policies.
Evidence Copy the questions in to your weebly page and then give suitable answers.
4. Use print screens to show how youd block pop-ups appearing up on websites?
2. The candidate will set up and access IT tools and devices for
collaborative work
2.1 I can describe the purposes for using collaborative technologies
Evidence Copy the questions in to your weebly and then give suitable answers.
2.2 I can describe what outcomes are needed from collaborative working and whether
or not archiving is required
Evidence Copy the questions in to your weebly and then give suitable answers.
1. Referring back to Criteria 1.3, out of the 3 collaborative projects, which one were
you a Team leader for?
3. How did you ensure your team completed their tasks efficiently?
4. What is archiving and does Google drive archive automatically?
6. Print screen evidence of and email that you sent to someone in your team which
details information regarding one of the following:
Incomplete work - you telling someone in your team that they need to
complete something.
Mistakes made you telling someone in your team they've done something
wrong for the project.
2.3 I can describe the roles, IT tools and facilities needed for collaborative tasks and
communication media
Evidence Copy the questions in to your weebly page and then give suitable answers.
4. Why are shared web pages needed for collaborative technologies to work?
2.4 I can describe the features, benefits and limitations of different collaborative
technology tools and devices
Evidence - Write the titles below into a weebly page and then underneath each title give an
example of what it is, 2 benefits and 1 limitation (disadvantage):
2. Headset
4. Forum
Evidence - Copy the questions in to your weebly and then answer them in detail:
2.6 I can select an appropriate combination of IT tools and devices to carry out
collaborative tasks
Evidence Complete the blogger task and add the link to your weebly page. Then copy the
questions below and ensure you complete/answer what is written in the question.
TASK: Open the Unit 3 CT_2.6 (blogger task document) in your shared files and
complete the task where you need to make a blog.
TASK: You need to set up Skype User Account at home. Once setup, from Skype, you
must contact all of your team to discuss any issues you had with your project that you did in
1.3.
Evidence: Print screens showing you communicating via Skype with each team member.
Remember - there needs to be evidence in the print screens that YOU started the video
conference.
Evidence - Copy the questions in to your weebly page and then give suitable answers.
1. Why is it important that the assessment documents your teacher shares with you,
doesn't allow you editing rights?
2. Why shouldnt the shared assessment documents be shared with the whole
population of the UK?
3.2 I can assess what permissions are needed for different users and content
Evidence - Print screen, the Advanced share screen for one of your documents that you
shared in your earlier project where you were a Team leader.
3.3 I can set up and use access rights to enable others to access information
I certify that Criteria 3.2 has been completed because I have used the Advance
options to set up and use access rights to enable members in my team to access
information when working collaboratively using G-Drive to create three Google
documents.
3.4 I can set up and use permissions to filter information
You are going to set up labels in gmail so that certain emails automatically go into
that folder, for later viewing.
Evidence required:
1. In your Gmail, you should have created a label in Unit 13 E-Mail for a popular person
or business that regularly emails you with a suitable folder name.
2. Now you will need to show evidence using Print Screens that you ensured that the
permissions and filters option was used which shows how you are ensuring that all
the emails from a person or company go to the label (you created) automatically.
3.5 I can adjust settings so that others can access IT tools and devices for
collaborative working
Evidence - Write the following questions and instructions into your weebly page and answer
them.
1. Why should the following colours not be used together when creating your
website - red and green or 2 primary colours?
2. Why is it better to use labels such as continue or stop rather than a green or
red coloured button on your website?
3.6 I can select and use different elements to control environments for collaborative
technologies
Evidence - Write the following questions and instructions into your weebly page and answer
them.
You must contribute to a forum, giving advice about anything, for e.g. a games forum, about
cars, or cooking or anything that interests you i.e. a hobby or sport. Please ensure any
usernames you set up are not offensive and contain shs at the end to prove its authenticity.
Evidence: Copy the following statements into Weebly and provide the print screen under
each one.
Evidence - Write the following questions and instructions into your weebly page and answer
them.
1. List a couple of very important rules you must follow if you were working on an
international collaborative project: Put them in order for the project to be successful
Evidence - Copy the following statement in to your weebly page once you are satisfied that
you have completed the tasks for Criteria 1.3:
I have completed tasks as team leader and as a team member. I have provided the
evidence for this by completing the tasks related to criteria 1.3. I was able to take
feedback on where I went wrong and was able to organise people to ensure they all
contributed fairly to the task
4.3 I can present relevant and valuable information
Evidence - Copy the following statement in to your weebly page once you are satisfied that
you have completed the tasks for Criteria 1.3:
I have completed tasks as team leader and as a team member. I have provided the
evidence for this by completing the tasks related to criteria 1.3
Evidence - Write the following instructions into your weebly page and produce evidence to
meet the criteria:
I have read through my blog and viewers have left at least 3 comments in my blog
page, to prove this I will:
Evidence - Write the following questions into your weebly page and answer them.
1. What is archiving?
2. Describe a situation where you have archived and why?
3. Why is archiving definitely useful for Collaborative Learning?
4.6 I can assess when there is a problem with collaborative technologies and when to
get expert help
Choose one collaboration project from the list below and give one example why
you used the internet to help you solve a problem with that task. Think back to
where you may have needed help when you were doing that collaborative project:
