90 Real Families - Real Lives

In 2017 the campaign Red Shoes Rock continues to promote local FASD awareness initiatives
all around the world, linking them together at an international level. The hashtags are
#RedShoesRock, #RealFamilies, #FASD, #FASDay, and #TogetherUnstoppable.

September 9 is FASD Awareness Day!

Red Shoes Rocks creates the path leading to International FASDay. The first FAS Awareness
Day was created by FASWorld (Brian Philcox, Bonnie Buxton and Teresa Kellerman) on
9.9.1999 with bells ringing at 9:09 am to alert and encourage people to not drink alcohol
during pregnancy. This wonderful event provided international understanding of the need to
provide effective services for individuals and supports to families impacted by fetal alcohol
spectrum disorders.

We still have much work to accomplish. It is a known fact that, drinking during pregnancy
can cause brain damage, leading to a range of developmental, cognitive, and behavioral
problems, which can appear at any time during childhood. These challenges oftten last or
increase over a lifetime for the individuals and become complicated with additional issues.

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) is the umbrella term for the different diagnoses,
which include: (CDC)

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS)

Alcohol-Related Neurodevelopmental Disorder (ARND)
Alcohol-Related Birth Defects (ARBD)
Neurobehavioral Disorder Associated with Prenatal Alcohol Exposure (ND-
PAE)



Our Marketing Team
We are regular folk adults living with FASD, three moms and a single dad. We live in
three different countries Canada, USA and Sweden. In the detailsour faith varies, our
colors change hues and the sounds of our words differ. We are human and we love,
laugh and learn through the challenges of life in the FASLaneSometimes we admit, we
yell, stomp and cry. All of our art and graphics are FREE TO USE. It is our gift to
Humanity. We do accept donations to continue our work.

The goal of Red Shoes Rock is to have fun while building awareness leading up to
FASDay 9.9...founded by Bonnie Buxton, Brian Philcox and Teresa Kellerman in 1999.
FASD can be hard on everyone, but TOGETHER WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE.

QUICK HISTORY OF RED SHOES ROCK

Red Shoes Rock is a public awareness visibility campaign. R.J. Formanek, (Canada)
founder of the Private Facebook GroupFlying with Broken Wings and an adult
advocate living with FASD began the movement in 2013 to bring visibility to the
invisible lifetime 100% preventable disability of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. He
spoke to his audiences wearing RED SHOES and he became VISIBLE
In 2014, Better Endings New Beginnings (Jodee Kulp) and LiveAbilities along with Good
Fruit Camp Productions (Sam Guerrido) joined RJ to help build awareness leading up to
International FASDay on September 9. That first year, we ran a VIRTUL RELAY RACE
FOR 30 DAYS leading up to FASDAY INTERNATIONAL on September 9. Our goal was to
build visibility for this day of awareness and celebration. We repeated this campaign in
2015 and we gained almost 1000 followers. We
realized together, we could all make a difference.
In 2016, our team grew bigger. We joined forces with
the Tiny Titan Team and Ann Yurcek (USA), Sasha
with Savanna Pietrantonio and Mark (Canada) and
Johan Wiklander of RealMindz (Sweden) plus loads of
friends from 42 countries. Our 90 day campaign
created awareness with 90 Real People with Real
Lives. We reached over 150,000 views.

1. LOVE AND SHARE REAL FAMILIES. REAL LIVES.
Jodee Kulp is working to kindle the love for the families that share the
challenges of living with the complications of FASD. Her objective is to help
put the joy of living into the hearts of families living with this tough challenge.
We are looking for 90 families from around the world to join us. Last year
90 courageous individuals stepped up to state I AM REAL this year we are
moving ahead by saying TOGETHER WE ARE UNSTOPPABLE.
All of last years participants are invited to return again - And we are looking
for new participants - we are opening it up to families wanting to run the virtual 90
day race as a team (family includes - pets, friends, supports, whoever you consider
your family)
a. We need your family picture (this can include families come in all kinds of
flavors and can include friends - pets - neighbors - community)
b. Then write us
i. About our family - (include diagnosis 1 must be Fasd but do not include
who has what - just give list of what you share and support) Then if you
want to introduce people list first name and favorite thing to do --- mom
Jodee loves to garden)
ii. Family strengths - 1-2 sentences
iii. Family challenge - 1-2 sentences
iv. Family wish - this is yours to have fun
 v. Advice for others from our family (we want to share your hard won
wisdom)
