fluorescent lighting
The basic design objectives reflected in Lightolier's
wide range of advanced fluorescent luminaires are:

SUPERIOR PHOTOMETRIC PEHFORMANCE

Refractors, injection-molded in one piece, have pre-
cise prisms for exceptional brightness control.
Prismatic shieldings provide optimum efficiency and
good control of surface brightness.
Diffusers of uniform whiteness provide generous, (A) INJECTION MOLDED PBISMATIC LENS. One-piece injection

standard for brightness control in the 55"-90'zone, both crosswise
Louvered shieldi ngs provide direct-i ndirect illumina- and lengthwise. (B) INTERLOCKING ENDS. Precision rib-embossed
end plates interlock to assure true alignment when fixtures are
tion with positive cut-off and low brightness side- mounted in continuous runs.
Iig hting.

REFINED APPEARANCE

Shallow depths meet today's lower ceiling needs.

Frameless shieldings provide large luminous areas
and avoid the cluttered "frame in a frame" look of
metal-framed shieldings.
No extraneous hardware, exposed hinges or "styl-
ing treatments."
Careful detailing prevents light leaks and light spill
on adjacent ceiling areas where spill is not intended.
Selection of sizes, shapes and lamp arrangements
permit coordinated lighting schemes for a lvide (C) CLEAN DETAILING. Seamless, drawn end pieces fit flush into
variety of area needs. matching offset in side of housing. There are no exposed sheet metal
edges. (D) EXTRUDED FRAMES. Heavy-gauge extruded anodized

fully enclose light source, eliminate light spill.
ucts permit distinctive treatment of selected areas
while maintaining design continuity.

EASE OF INSTALLATION
Flugged, heavy-gauge constructions install easily,
reduce maintenance costs.
Fully enclosed, dust-free constructions assure main-
tenance of high photometric efficiency.
Easy-to-handle frameless shieldi ngs.
Hidden hinges suspend shieldings safely during re-
lamping.
Maximum lamp-to-shielding spacing within shallow (E) LUMINOUS JOINTS. Enclosed luminous ends of one-piece, injec-

cated and mounted for optimum heat dissipation, ings eliminates light leaks; absence of exposed hardware permits
maximum lumlnous areas, avoids the heavy "frame in a frame" look

The frameless, prismatic lens of Modular Prismalux
MODULAR PRISMALUX III- lll is molded of acrylic or styrene in one piece to
assure precision, uniformity and ruggedness. Lens
has thousands of conical prisms which redirect the
light, keeping it out of the glare zone, with a result
that establishes a new standard for brightness con-
trol in the 55" to 90" range-both crosswise and
lengthwise. Lens is of uniform texture, free of lamp
images, durable and dimensionally stable.
o
Lens fits precisely into shallow, cleanly detailed
housing. A narrow luminous reveal allows the lens
to be shifted horizontally for relamping. Concealed
integrally-molded pin hinges assure safe suspension
during servicing.
Knockouts permit mounting end-to-end or side-to-
side. Optional: Genuine walnut frame.

14" oPTlcoN' A high-performance, Iow-cost unit that provides
efficient general illumination with prismatic bright-
ness control, the 14" Opticon features a one-piece,
injection-molded, frameless refractor of acrylic or
styrene.
Refractor bottom has clear, sharply debossed
prisms for uniform low surface brightness and maxi-
mum structural strength. Sides have horizontal ex-
terior prisms and vertical interior prisms, minimize
brightness contrasts between fixiure and adjacent
o
ceiling. Ends are luminous. Refractor opens from
either side without tools, remains safely suspended
on concealed hinges during relamping.
Rib-embossed end plates interlock precisely in
continuous runs, assure true alignment, eliminate
dark joiner straps. Unit is completely enclosed and
refractor is destaticized to prevent dust accumu-
lation.
The 14" Opticon is ideal for schools, offices,
stores, hospitals, and has design-coordinated coun-
terparts in 9" Opticon.
U.S. Patent No. D195,529.

g" oPTlcoN' A slim, shallow luminous form, the 9" Opticon is a
design-coordinated counterpart of the 14" Opticon,
designed to offer high performance and economy
for school, office, store and hospital applications.
A one-piece, injection-molded, frameless refractor
provides eff icient general illumination with prismatic
brightness control. Refractor opens from either side
without tools, remains safely suspended on con-
cealed hinges during relamping.
Clear, debossed refractor bottom has sharply
molded prisms to assure uniform low surface bright-
ness and maximum structural strength. Sides have
horizontal exterior prisms and vertical interior prisms
to minimize brightness contrast between fixture and
adjacent ceiling. Ends are luminous.
Rib-embossed end plates inti:rlock precisely in
continuous runs, assure true alignment, eliminaie
dark joiner straps. Unit is completely enclosed and
refractor is destaticized to prevent dust accumu-
Iation.

jllumination from Circline lamps in a shallow-formed diffuser of
virgin acrylic or light-stabilized styrene, is well-suited to installation
in general utility and circuiatton areas. Fully-enclosed, f rameiess dif-
fuser fits tightly into regressed ceiling pan, forming a dust-inhibiting,
light-tight seal. Hidden, flexible spring hinges permit fast, simple
mai ntenance.
CIRCULUN/E offers the textured richness and color of genuine
walnut veneer or the simplicity of clean matte gray enamel ln a
shallow fixture wjth widespread direct distribution. There is no up-
light or side spill to emphasize flaws on the ceiling. Convex glass
diffuser is regressed. Self-jlluminated bezel matches outer band.
On the walnut version, the outer surface and inner bezel are ver-
tically grained and a beaded rim protects the edge of the veneer.
Ceiling pans are regressed, finished in matte black. Torsiontite*
Spring Hinges permit fast, safe relamping.

LOUVRON A ruggedly built fixture that provides direct-indi-
rect illumination with positive cut-off (45o x 35o) and
low brightness sideiighting, Louvron is especially
adaptable for use in schools, offices, banks, stores
and institutional applications.
Unbreakable side panels are of Perfalux--an ex-
clusrve material that combines the translucency of
plastic with the structural qualities of perforated
steel, creating thousands of tiny lenses which diffuse
the light and create uniform luminosity. Smooth
surface texture of Perfalux prevents dust accumula-
tion, minimizing maintenance.
Louver blades, pressure-locked to the louvers to
prevent rattling and maintain rigidjty, provide visual
cut-off to light source. Louvers, supported by spring-
lock fasteners when fixture is closed, are suspended
on steel safety chains durlng relamping.
Shallow chassis, ends and sides, are precisely
fitted to each other, providing a level top that fits
neatly against the ceiling across the entire width of
the fixiure.
Top reflectors are available for conversion to use
as a downlighting fixture only.

SPECIFICATION FEATURES
Side Panels (l) are perforated steel with baked white enamel
finish, overcoated with clear, high-temperature plastic; re-
movable without tools. Louver Blades (2) are pressure-locked
to V-shaped louver channel to prevent rattling, provide maxi-
mum rigidity. Louver (3) is supported by spring-lock fasten-
ers when closed; suspended on safety chains during relamp-
ing. Bal/asts: Rapid Start HPF, internally-fused, ETL certified.
