mance of the F18 catamaran class. The team wants to equip an F18 catamaran with a
wingsail and a hydrofoil system (a first for the F18 class!) so as to increase its maximum
speed, and to beat an unmodified catamaran of the same class on an olympic course. Simi-
lar systems have been already developed for catamarans in other classes. It must be said
however that those projects had teams of engineers with almost unlimited budgets. As
stated before, this class of catamaran has NEVER been equipped with both a hydrofoil
system AND a wingsail. The Aquilon team intends to achieve this with a limited budget to
demonstrate Canadas expertise in engineering.
